    ..and we still lag behind.

"......athletic director Todd Stansbury was committed to increasing funding for football staff, particularly for non-coaching positions, such as for recruiting. "

Contract details for Geoff Collins’ coaching staff
"We're not here to have a Norman Vincent Peale "Power of Positive Thinking" get together or a Georgia Tech Football Revival Meeting."

    Jim Hart

You win with people first. When you surround yourself with unbelievable men of character and relentless recruiters who give great effort and care about the student-athlete and want them to be successful in every single phase of their lives, and tie that together with a great place, you have a chance to build something special.

No doubt we need to pay coaches more and its clear that big school football programs like a Bamaa or LSU do but remember when Mark R at georgie paid coaches from his salary............cant lag behind today and expect t o compete in my humble opinion

Yep, it's going to be a big struggle for us to consistently compete, regardless of who the coach is, with our money situation. When you're behind Duke in money spent on your football program, that's not good. Makes what PJ accomplished a little more impressive and maybe Chan Gailey wasn't the worst coach ever like some think. Funny thing is, most of the ACC schools that are ahead of us in spending, we beat their ass on a regular basis.

Collins is getting more support than both Gailey and Johnson did so let's hope that turns into more success. 14% increase in coaches salary, so we should expect a 14% increase in wins, right? Johnson averaged 7.5 wins a year over his 11 years so we should expect 8.5 wins a year with Collins?

We know how that worked out.

People on the outside looking in think that our talent level is a joke and that we won games because of PJ and his scheme. I couldn't disagree more. We have talented players. We aren't talented enough to beat UGA/Clemson/Alabama but we've been able to compete and beat everyone else. Of the 6 teams ahead of us in ranking, we beat 4 of them last year. As I've said many times, Collins is inheriting a 7 win team. This isn't a huge rebuild job.

I don't like this assessment at all....will still go with 6..not due to our talent but several big boys are sub par....

Mark Bradley--consider the source, but it was a well reasoned opinion, with some back up evidence to boot.

NO surprise in this.I'd be shocked if we didn't struggle --a lot at times.
For those who think we have talent--we do -just not spread out well (8 running backs, 14 DBs), the DL/OLs are hurting--maybe we can play touch fball?
