    Toughest Schedule in 2019

First of all, Paul Finebaum is paid by the SEC, so take this with a grain of salt. He says South Carolina has the toughest schedule this year with the following opponents:
    North Carolina
    Charleston Southern
    Alabama
    Missouri
    Kentucky
    Georgia
    Florida
    Tennessee
    Vanderbilt
    Appalachian State
    Texas A & M
    Clempsen.

We have three common opponents with USCe--Clempsen, Georgia, UNC. Our OOC schedule consists of USF, Citadel, Temple, and Georgia, their's is UNC,Charleston Southern, Appy, Clempsen. The comparison of remaining games minus our common foes is :

    Alabama - Duke
    Missouri - Miami
    Kentucky - Pittsburgh
    Florida - Virginia
    Tennessee - VPI
    Vanderbilt - NCST
    Texas A & M

A little tougher, I'll grant that, but I would say Tech's schedule is comparable, especially if you recognize the SEC bias for teams like UT, Vandy, Missouri, and Kentucky.

Carolina does have a pretty tough schedule. We're close. I'm interested to see how we play in our tougher games, i.e., UGA, Clemson, UNC, etc. I'll be surprised a little if we are >500 but I do expect an upset somewhere.

Carolina has 3 definite losses before they kickoff. We've got 2. Theirs is 33% harder. I wouldn't be surprised if App State beat 'em that late in the season, after they've gone thru that gauntlet.

That was basically my point. We are all enthused, and rightly so, but reality is we have a killer schedule in a transition season. Our schedule ranks up there with the most difficult in the nation. But we wanted big-boy football. It's here.

I think it was NYJacket that once said something akin to : if you want to be the best, you need to play the best.

Chan Gailey at a meet & greet in Tampa after his first season at Tech said the biggest weakness we had was that Tech players did not understand the PHYSICAL and MENTAL TOUGHNESS needed to win football games. After O'Leary's tenure ? But that is what he said.
