Are we a "dirty" team now on defense. I've seen a marked increase in cheap shot personal fouls so far this year. Two on Saturday were just ridiculously uncalled for.And two ejections against South Florida, plus other roughing, etc. So, do you think we are just playing more aggressively and don't know how to handle that? Or are we intentionally playing flagrantly? Late hits out of bounds has never been our style.

I think playing more aggressively and not knowing how to handle it is appropriate. I think one of the personal fouls was questionable. The runners feet were in bounds when hit.

But aggressive play does bring fouls.

Not really dirty.... some seem to be having trouble adjusting to the new "Gary Faulkner Rule."

If you'll recall, Gary was almost personally responsible for the change in the spearing rule. Not exactly, but you get my point.... at Gary's funeral, Rex Putnal, a former UGag WR & brother of our Steve Putnal (RIP), attributed it to Gary just a little TIC.

Before Gary there was Sammy Burke, Giles Smith & Billy Kinard & afterwards Don Bessilleau & Riccardo Ingram & Dawan Landry..... we've always had DBs who'd knock you into the middle of next week.

And sideline tackling, always taught from about Sixth Grade on, is pretty much illegal these days, so guys have to be smarter as officials become more EMTs than rules & game mgt types.

Gary woud hit a mack truck and the others would too.Throw in Don Toner and even little Billy Williamson and Gresham and you have band of hitters.......like aggressive hitters but the spearing rule has been around since early sixties we should have mastered it by now
