So where are we with recruiting?

We got 3 new recruits this week for a total of 8.I've been curious about the direction after the first guys.Unfortunately it has not been positive.

The first guys were ok.A WR,a Safety, an Aback .All were 3 stars of decent ilk but far from upgrades from previous classes. Then we get an OL with no P5 offers from a small school in NC.
Then a Bback from a small private school in Ala who MAY be ok if he stays -after mentioning he will listen to other P5 offers.
Then a Ga LB who had actually offer from SC ,who although light may be a fit in new system. So I thought the train was starting to roll with quality.
But then --- another smallish QB from who we take as a DB? His other offer is E.Carolina. He is a part-time DB at 5-10,175 learning to play the position at a P5 school. .Pleez.A long shot to play in 3 yrs.
Then a QB-.We offered as a QB!.a Sort of a QB.He is the big guy 6-2, 215 who looks like the big kid that is put at the position like in Pop Warner league. Passing? --he threw for less than 50% completion in a SMALL private league.Running?
at least he is big, reminds of Matt Jordan ,without the passing ability--btw, has no college offers -- he'll probably end up as WR after wasting lots of time at QB

So ,what is the problem? are we playing TAG football.Where are the big mules? OLs and DLs? This class has the look of desperation now .Ok at first but all are only maybe top 100 in their state .Then these last 2 "hopefuls. The trend is weak. I hope it turns better but 2 losing seasons and PJ going to UT may have had a big impact.

I'm sure when the big time recruits wake up and realize that Coach Johnson has a long term contract extension the verbal commits will start rolling in. Just you wait, alagold.

What is surprising is that we seem to be taking reaches before the high school football season starts. Sometimes guys do blossom in their senior year and I can see a sleeper coming as a result of that. Right now, it looks like we are not garnering much interest from recruits.

The original "swampland in Florida deal" was bought by a Georgia Tech AD.

Again guys takes a special recruit who wants to belly flop all day long or a back who wants to be chest speared by Bubba.

exactly what I thought on 4 of these guys
    let's see-
we can't recruit a QB because he gets hit all the time and has no WRs
we can't get WRs because we don't throw(talk about a cause and effect)
we can't get OLs because we cut and dive and don't pass (for pros)
We can't get TOP running backs because we spread carries
we can't get top DEF guys because we practice vs TO

I see how we are "unique"-- unique in system AND as in losing seasons 2 0f last 3 yrs and no bowl

Y 'all are laughable. I hope none of our recruits read this.

I know, I know...……this will bring out the same old, same old……"Kool aid drinkers, 7-5 is acceptable, CPJ sucks, Dodd is God, Bull****!!

These players are coming to Georgia Tech to play football. They deserve better than your constant negativity.

I wish 'em all the best and hope they kick ass. They've already shown above-avg intellect in their decision to pursue a GT diploma, provided they don't flip on us.

Everyone here, and I mean EVERYONE, hopes for the best for guys who commit to us.

And truth is nobody - coaches / fans / mamas - know how any kid will turn out. Be they a 5* or 0*.

But why can we not get an offer list? Why are we so intent on getting these commits, this early, from kids that may have 1 or 2 offers from schools we have no need to be competing against?

Recruiting matters. But it is not a race to get as many as soon as possible so the coach can then sit back in his lazy boy and yell “Success” while puffing a cigar.

And academics is so overblown in this process. How is it that gsu, Coastal Carolina, fiu, Samford, Troy, Elon, and those schools are all recruiting nothing but academic geniuses?

For us to be where I think we all want us to be, but more importantly, where GT deserves and needs to be, we have got to recruit better.

That is part of the HC job. Now I can understand if CPJ is tired of fighting due to lack of resources, or taking crap from the Hill. But he has been here 10 seasons with some damn good pay.

But I fear he now has his extension (even after he inquired about another job. NOT when someone approached him!) and he is going to glide these last few years.

We Do Not have to rush getting some of the commits we are getting AT THIS MOMENT. I want to get commits that are being recruited from teams we play every year. And it is the HCs O, his attitude, his direction of the program that is impacting this.

The lazy boy attitude is no longer acceptable.

Now he can play any kid he wants, he can run any system he wants - and we as fans can expect to win every game we play.

As of now - we are at 48% winning against the teams on this year’s schedule that we have played at least once since 2008.

I have never had a job where that is acceptable, I have never had employees that kept their job thinking that was acceptable, I know of zero organizations thinking that is acceptable, my step sisters son (a just graduated HS senior) would not keep his summer job delivering for Domino’s with that % for on time delivery -

YET OUR HC GETS AN EXTENSION!!!!!!!

So bottom line - same O, different O, old DC, new DC (we have seen this transfer of blame before), easy schedule, hard schedule, rain, shine, old unis, new unis, good field turf, bad field turf -

NO MORE EXCUSES. CPJ HAS BEEN GIVEN WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME.

WIN, AND BEAT THE TEAMS THAT ARE MOST IMPORTANT, NOW.

YOUR SYSTEM, YOUR RECRUITS, YOUR COACHES - WIN.
