It's like you mentioned in other thread. All the facility improvements in the world don't matter with poor salesman. Kids have seen years of talented Tech teams underachieve in baseball and they want to go elsewhere. Even small state schools like Mercer and Kennesaw State start to look like better. Kids have also seen a coach bench a QB who was like 20-2 as a starter at halftime against UGA because he understood you have to be able to pass the ball. They then see Tech with a QB who's passing numbers were the worst since 1950 and don't want to go there. Even a Pastner with a mess he brought in has lost some luster. He ended with 1 stud recruit and now is talking about the NIT in 4 years. It's not that hard to make the NIT. Unless we raise the expectations from coaches, all we'll have are some nice buildings.

Wow. First a contract extension for a coach whose program is trending downward (2 of 3 losing seasons and lost bowls, butt-raped by Puke 3 of 4) and now this?

Hall is much worse than CPJ. He should've been fired 2 years ago, at least.

And you're right, Techie. We're just not an attractive place to play for right now. Pastner looks mediocre, Hall sucks, and there isn't an ice cube's chance in hell CPJ's offense will ever attract ANY stud recruits. Who'd want to play in this boring offense that never throws in the year 2018 and whose linemen dive at ankles for 3 hours?

Radakovich helped take Clemson to a national championship and to perennial national power status. Rad leaving GT has proven to be a big loss.

There's no academic excuse in baseball, either. A high percentage of those kids in the baseball hotbed, Cobb County, qualify academically. As well as many others that play in metro Atlanta.

Jim, I would like to play devil's advocate on your response. Did DRad help Clemson get better, or did DRad jump on the Clemson bandwagon because he saw it was already trending upward and GT wasn't? I tend to think of DRad as an opportunist who jumped ship when he saw something better. I could be mistaken though...

Or, for you conspiracy theorists out there, Did Radakovich already have a plan to leave for Clempsen when he hired Paul Johnson?
