    Another interesting stat

    Interesting, not good.
On another Tech site. Tech was one of only five P5 schools NOT to have a NCAA bowl/ tournament team in Fball, either mens/women Bball nor baseball. (Pitt was other ACC team with Colorado , Rutgers, and ?). AND Fball AND baseball coach here got a raise.
My guess our Prez doesn't even know this . Nor being about 100 of 115 in Directors' Cup (total sports points) .

'It Is What It Is' is CPJ's biggest and worst legacy. It's now crept into other sports.

I was an undergrad when we won our last natty and went to our first Final Four and our baseball team annually contended to be ACC Champs and hosted regionals almost every year.

Now some fans get excited for the Music City bowl and the NIT. It's been such a collapse into complete, total mediocrity. Strangest of all is how many fans seem to have given up.

Like most of you, it's not terrifically important to me anymore, being almost 50. But it's still pathetic how far we've fallen. I guess maybe I just got lucky with my timing.

We all remember some great sports, spread over many years. We tend to forget the awful times. We think of Dodd as a world beater, and of course he was for that incredible run. But as an example of how uneven the field is for us, Dodd was 12-10 for his career against Georgie. Johnson has wins against Georgia, Clempsen, FSU, VPI, Miami, so we are lucky in that regard. The thing about Dodd was he never lost to Kansas, Middle Tennessee, or other teams that we were "supposed" to beat.

I wasn't around for Dodd but I was for Boss Ross and GOL and I can't fathom either coach shrugging his shoulders and saying "It Is What It Is" after losses the way CPJ does. For all the talk from some of his supporters about how he hates to lose, I just don't see it.

I don't think the guy likes losing nor is he satisfied with years like 2015/17. But nor do I believe it really bothers him as much as others think it does. And why should it? He's very well-paid regardless of how good we are on the field.
