"The NCAA is considering further changes in the transfer rule, including the possibility of allowing athletes with certain GPAs who are also meeting standards in their progress to their degrees can have immediate eligibility."

What I took away from it was transferring from school to school just got a whole lot easier and cheaper. Might make talent from elite programs flow to teams like Georgia Tech if players are dissatisfied with their playing time or their coaching staff. But may also cause players that wanted to go to, say, Clempsen or FSU, but barely missed and ended up at the Flats, to want try one more time to get on at a more elite school. I really think it will evolve to where recruiting will become a constant activity for a player's entire college career. Imagine that Bama's kicker gets injured or turns pro unexpectedly. I believe the search will go out to find a proven kicker from another school and urge him to transfer under the relaxed requirements. Maybe I'm wrong. Seems to have a real potential for abuse in what has become a cutthroat activity.

Pendulum now swinging the other way.

Years ago, the Presidents of universities (meaning the NCAA) implemented these transfer rules we have now for a reason. The reason was to help prevent cheating with payoffs, etc.to get players to transfer.

If steps not taken to prevent this again, future gtsportstalkers will be complaining that it has become too easy for players to transfer.

Let me be the first: it is too easy to transfer. Recruits already have little or no loyalty to the school they first sign on with. How many players have we lost in just the past two years, for no other reason but they didn't like playing here? True, we benefitted by Tashard Choice having a family hardship. We need a system in which it is extremely difficult, nearly impossible to transfer within Division I. That might make the recruits concentrate on their decision as to what school to go to. If they do want to leave, like Vad Lee, there ought to be a cost, i.e., drop out of the FBS down to FCS or lower.

But, years ago, transfers could happen without having to sit out a year and things like they do now.

Not happy with this since I think the big schools will have the advantage......guy having lack of playing time at a bama etc will not be attractive to the courses at tech..Yes full time recruiting which I thought we had will need to increases........getting to be lack waivers on baseball........not good
