You read your starting QB had the lowest completion pct for any Tech QB since at least 1950 (Apparently records are spotty before then) and he is entrenched as the starter. I am happy about the Nate Woody hire but even an improved defense won't win games if we can't score. In 2017, Tech scored 0 offensive TD's in the second half against UGA, Miami, and Duke. We got a pity TD against Clemson late. Teams know the formula. Have the safeties cheat up and eventually get a 3rd and long. We may get to 6 wins simply because there may be enough teams we can run over but that is as high as the bar is with this QB.

I have also been as many know a critic of our offense.Yes when its humming it turns out yds and keeps our defense off the field, but like you think next yr will be decent at six or seven wins not due to talent but due to whom we play...when teams shut us down like a ga or bama or clemins etc i expect it to happen at times but when the dooks start to do it ...well it worries me.I am looking for a better defense but to be honest as old defensive coach i am sure each DC has all the x and os figured out but you still have to produce with some talent and not so sure we have it.......Wooody probably had better talent at appy than we had at tech.I also agree that if folks make us throw we have either got timprove or punt...........will be interesting yr

I'm looking forward to the season. Last year was last year.

Interested in seeing if Marshall has improved or does someone give him a run. We've got an experienced OL that should perform better. With a number of 4 stars and a a lot of high 3's in the recruiting class I want to know who can step up and play this year.

The defense is especially intriguing. A completely new scheme, new DC and almost an entirely new defensive coaching staff.

Did that big ugly from Miss. State get a waiver or does he have to sit out a year?

Marshall did enough as a 1st year starter to put us in a position to win lots of games... With the exception of Clemson he really didn't lose us any games... That is about all you can ask as a 1st year starter... however as a captain and 2nd year guy he should show tremendous progress from last season to this one especially with reads.... The thing that bothers me is everyone keeps saying he needs to be better in the passing game and yet the last few years every time we drop back to pass our QB is immediately running for his life... Nobody can look good passing when that is the case... literally nobody

Our OL is a major problem also.We were spotty at best and terrible at worst esp the OTs.For fun, I checked another site on '19 offers. We have 5 OL slots right?, we have SEVEN OL offers out.Yet we now only have THREE DL positions and yet have EIGHTEEN offers out. btw--you should really recruit for 3 yrs down road so this class should be big. This is CRAP recruiting work to me. also, don't even think that we've loaded up the last 2 yrs at OL as an answer..We haven't.

Another oddity--we have signed at least 8 DBs in the last 2yrs ,yet we have 11 more offers out for maybe NO slots in the next 2-3 yrs if these guys are as good as advertised.(doesn't even count the sophs andJrs). Maybe could use those for OLs,huh?Maybe recruit some OLs bigger than 265 lbs HOPING to grow them SOMEDAY to block the 310+ lb DLs we see at clem, uga and uM..

Our offensive line is a problem, our defensive line is a problem, our quarterback is a problem, our db's are a problem, our special teams would have to improve greatly to be a problem. Yet our coach remains in good standing, earning $550,000 per win. What a country!!

same song different verse .....we still are out recruited and are so thin on both lines.Woody has to use mirrors since I see no studs to run the 34 ..schemes are good on the blackboard and hitting dummies but you need bodies that can play.......still think due to the folks we play we win seven.......then its on to the pJ bandwagon again.........

Tennessee, Virginia, and Miami defense completely failed us and we should have won those games... That would have given us 8 wins and 3 losses with the 3 being Clemson, UGA, and one really bad loss to Duke... Tell me what I'm missing again??? We would have been 8-3 with 2 of our losses to teams in the college football playoff if we had any kind of a second half defense

Truth is we NEVER know what kind of team we will have.

Some are still living off 2014, when we finished strong and in great fashion. Yet that team also barely beat gsu, and lost to pitiful puke & unc

    We never know.

And this will be the 3rd or 4th time in 11 years we have been excited about a new DC who will supposedly fix the problems on that side of the ball.

    As always, time will tell.

But of the teams on this year’s schedule that we have played at least once in the last 10 years - we have lost to them 52% of the time.
