    another suggestion:

If you are going to call a Punt Fake on 4th & Long, don't have your slow white punter try to run it!!

Personal foul: roughing the coach. Fifteen post penalty from the spot of the foul. Repeat first down.

Lol this one was embarrassing. I actually don't think it was a "called" fake. If you watch it again, Poole rolled right and it looked like he had the opportunity to read it and if he had a lane to go for it and if not, rugby punt it. We did it a few times during the season. It worked against UNC and I believe Pitt. Even though I don't think Poole left the sideline with PJ saying, "fake punt," the blame is still 100% on PJ for even letting Poole decide if he wanted to do that or not. Late in the 2nd quarter, down 6 around midfield, 4th and long, just pin them deep. Bad coaching blunder.

Faster guy could have made it.looked like a secondary call....if you can do it....do it...Only two folks know PJ and the punter and nobody has claimed responsibility for this...to me it looked like punter looked at tbd set and took off....

I believe you are correct. I seem to remember to CPJ saying after the game that it was an audible based on the punt cover team's alignment. But, like you said, it's the coach's fault for not having the players aware of the situation.

Bad thing is every special team coach or most of them........give a punter some leeway when it comes to fakes..No matter if you suceed or fail its allways the coach who catches hell.....I didnt have as much heart burn on this as I did in the Bowl game vs LSU.......If it would have worked PJ would have had another genius moment but it didnt so he gets the bull horns.

If I remember correctly you are referring to the game where the punter slipped. I believe it was the only fake all season that failed. Poole IMO is an underrated punter because he was able to usually pin them deep and his reads were good. I saw in the game where he slipped that he was wide open to make the first down. Speed had nothing to do with it neither his race for that matter, it was wet, and he happened to have slipped. Had he not slipped, we would have gotten a first down and all would be well. Also how does this even have anything to do with the original post or have you decided that no matter the post, the mission is always to make a crack at CPJ.

If I am wrong about which game you are referring to, please let me know.

wrong.!! had he not slipped he would have made it back to the original line of scrimmage.. he still had 10 more yards for a first down.. perhaps the punter was as confused as you on the play
