What ACC Coaches are saying anonymously about GT

ACC Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2014 | AthlonSports.com

    Georgia Tech

“It’s just hard to recruit there because of the option.”…

“They had a fortunate streak of really good wide receivers a few years ago, but if you’re a top receiver, why would you go to Georgia Tech? You’ll run eight routes a game. They don’t really have the Calvin Johnsons or Stephen Hills that they used to.”…

“I think the system catching up to them. It’s not a system that translates to the NFL.”…

“They have some good running backs – they’ll always have that – but overall we felt they had one of the worst offensive lines in the league. There’s just not really an imposing or athletic presence there.”…

“They did have sort of a hybrid tight end/receiver we liked, Darren Waller. He’s about as impressive as you’ll see for that size.”…

“Defensively, they had a good looking team. Ted Roof has done a nice job settling that unit down and simplifying things for them. They could really rush the passer at times last year.”…

“Jeremiah Attaochu and Emmanuel Dieke were really athletic and could get in your backfield, but they have to replace both of those guys.”…

    “Linebacker Jabari Hunt-Days is a good player.”…

“I’m not sure what happened with Vad Lee, the transfer. He’s talented but, again, it’s a system thing – he didn’t want to run the option.”…

“The option is always tough to prepare for – Georgia Tech can always get at least a few quality wins out of it – but I’m not sure it’s a sustainable model.”…

Gee, I wonder what possible GT recruits are being told about playing for Coach Johnson?

In order: difficult majors / stubborn coach / will not change his offense / little chance of ACC championship / not a real path to the pros if the TO remains in place.

Still think the offense is main stumblong block to team sucess on high level.Dont see any change to the offense so this year is a crap shoot>If JT can get it done I think we can be fair but we are thin everywhere.Would like to see the rock in the air more to keep gap eights from lining up on us so..we will just have to wait and see..I like the spread offense that many many teams run in HS.Few run the 30 and yeah I think the offense hurts you if you think you are a pro.

It all translates into boring, mediocre football that generates very little buzz, interest or enthusiasm. The only thing I see that could capture the fans is if Justin Thomas really takes off with his speed and athleticism and makes it fun to watch this season. Otherwise this season will be like hanging around the morgue waiting for the next dead body to arrive.

Have said this before..if you run this offense you need a qb that can throw a little ,think a lot and run.JT may be the key but I hope we have some good backups .It is clear though that folks are divided on this team and PJ and no matter what I dont see a mending of the fences. What is needed is simple....WIN and they will come. You are right though it would be nice to see exciting play rather than Dive Dive Dive but again you have to have the horses to run even the dive and last i looked JD was in the NFL.Big problem is what to do with PJ once he wins eight(my take only)...is this good enough ? Do we say the overall program is in need of repair? Is this offense good for recruiting in HS kids? Is the money rich Alums wanting a change ?..all this will be on front burner in December. It should be interesting.

Spot on. There is no excitement with our team, but my feelings about GT are like a marriage...gotta get through the bad times to enjoy the good.

12 out of 13. When will this stop?

srs< I'm not married, just your average single divorcee. So when are the good times coming?
