Does Roof even want the Job?

I am on record as believing Georgia Tech will part company with Coach Johnson at the end of this season. If that takes place, many in the TechNation have assumed that the GTAA will look to install Ted Roof as the new head coach. The logic is okay--it keeps Roof here, and possibly Pelton, and Roof is, after all part of the Tech family. I am not for Coach Roof as head coach, but I would hate to lose him as I think he has and is improving things defensively and in recruiting. What I was wondering, does he even aspire to the job, or any head job for that matter? I have seen nothing written, but of course, being the professional that he is, it would not be being discussed given the present situation. If Roof doesn't want, or doesn't get the job, then it sounds like we are headed for a complete changing of the staff when Paul Johnson leaves.

I have absolutely NO insider information, but I would hope that he would consider it if offerred, and maybe use an offensive coordinator to handle the other side of the ball. Based on his Duke experience, he may be a bit gun shy to try on the head coach job again?

Ted is good guy yet had no chance at Duke.Kids on defense like him and that's his strength but if PJ goes he will have to put in for job or hope new coach keeps him.Would bate to see him go.

Ted Roof as the head coach is a terrible idea. Downgrading at the head coaching position would be a big time disaster. You think times are bad now. However, if we do fire PJ, I hope we keep Roof and Pelton on the staff. As we're seeing now, players like them and they are doing well on the recruiting front. If we lose these two guys, all of the momentum we've had recruiting defensive players the last few years is gone and we start over. If the next coach keeps them, we'll continue to recruit well on the defensive side of the ball and, as many have stated on here, a new offensive scheme will bring in loads of 4 stars and NFL talent, which would likely put us in the top 10-20 in recruiting every single season so I would expect BCS games, being on the cusp of the college football playoff and wins over the dawgs within the first two or three seasons. With our class right now possibly finishing in the top 20-30, there's no reason why we can't win 8-9 games the first year or two. No excuses.

But I would imagine that he would like to be the head ball coach at his alma mater.

Would you take the job if you had to keep the staff of the guy what got fired? Let me answer for you--No.

Not the entire staff but there are cases where the new coach keeps a defensive coordinator or a few assistants. PJ kept a guy or two from the Gailey regime.

We won't even sniff at 8 wins. We are realistically #48 in the Coaches' Poll. I know the coaches scratch each other's backs and vote for their buddies and/or there conferences, but c'mon. We have fans that are predicting 9 and 10 wins. That is just not going to happen. We have four losses locked, and maybe 3 wins locked. The other five games are unpredictable, but we have managed to play poorly enough to lose on many occasions in recent years.

You may be right but forgive me if I don't trust the guy who said last year, "the best we can hope for is 4 wins."

Dont know...even as bad as we have played at times.......we still win three in a row and Dook is toss up and VT has no qb and we play them at home and Clemson comes to Atlanta and we all ways play them tuff and Pitt is winnable and gosh Miami is a head case so we could ...if we play good football and not turnover the ball etc win the games mentioned......I will stick by the eightwins........Now That Is All...course I wouldnt bet on any wins this year since you never know what happens on Saturday in a college football game.
