GT Picked Fifth in the ACC Coastal - Does That Shock You?

Does it shock you that GT has been picked fifth in the ACC Coastal this season? Not that the media that follows the ACC is that good at predicting how teams will fare during the season, they aren't. But the interesting point is that the perception of GT football has fallen to the depths of the ACC.

At this point in time GT football is considered an also-ran, a weak sister, an after-thought... a patsy.

I think GT will do better than that, one thing that we have seen over the years is that GT almost always does better than predicted when predicted to not be very good.

No, it doesn't surprise me at all that the media picked us to finish 5th. We have turned into the Rodney Dangerfield of the ACC.

With the latest group of players gone, I'm seeing 5-7 even with a favorable schedule.

On paper we are not very good. Extremely mediocre talent wise. No stars. So it's no surprise. Keeping my expectations low, not getting bent out of shape about GT FB this fall.

yeah I paid the price for my "9+ wins!!" optimism last year. I've come to expect nothing from this coach nor team as a result, esp. after that collapse against the mutts. My prediction is based more on the fact that the ACC is a weak-sister conference with weak teams than anything else. UNC always sucks and Puke is Puke until they do it a few years in a row. The rest of the Coastal is complete garbage and Johnson's boys should be able to dive past 'em.

That's been my MO for a few years now. Honestly I can see us being higher than 5th, because like Jim said, that's just what we do. But 5th isn't out of the realm of possibility, either.

12 out of 13. When will this stop?

Bobby Godd never, not once, ever blamed his boys for a loss. It was always on his shoulders, and his shoulders alone. That is greatness. This is not. --YukonWreck

These yahoos were of no impact at all. Autry had potential but he wasn't playing and it has never been established that he was back from his injury. He was basically a non-contributor. Henry was a bust, pure and simple. Could not find a position that would get him on the field for any meaningful playing time. Commissong was "going to contribute" and is probably the most significant loss, but he is gone and needs to be forgotten. These guys weren't helping us win games and their absence will affect our fortunes not at all. I am a little concerned that we have guys in the program that are so self centered and disrespectful of their teammates that they would/could do this. The modern jock, I guess. Makes you a little leary of paying these schmucks a stipend to buy their "Micanopy Mind-f**k".

That's probably what a good portion of the stipends will go for. That and alcohol.
