Is that good or bad? I thought kids like GT because of the higher possibility of playing early? I guess I was wrong.

ACC college football lunch links: Redshirt not required - ESPN

"Overall, 107 of the ACC's 258 true freshmen signed in 2013 saw playing time last year -- or 42 percent. That number was a bit higher for ESPN 300 players, of which 23 of 41 (56 percent) saw action. Pitt played the most true freshmen (12), and Miami played the highest percentage of its signing class (67 percent), while Louisville (3 of 16) and Georgia Tech (2 of 13) played the fewest."

I think we could do a better job of getting our best athletes on the field. Sometimes they happen to be true freshmen.

I think it is usually a good thing. It would make sense to play true freshmen if they were our best players. But, if they aren't our best, Johnson's plan to give them more experience during a redshirt year should work to our advantage. I don't know if the tendency to redshirt true freshmen causes some prospective players to lose interest in GT. What do you think?

In all honesty, the 2013 class is a train wreck. 3 members from that class have already left. Custis may never play here. There are some good players who will help but it will be the thinnest class since Gailey's 2002 recruiting class.

We aren't recruiting the kind of players that can make a different as True FR. OR We are deep enough and talented enough to not need to play True FR.

    Half full or half empty?

No. Red shirting as many as possible every year is the best way to improve the overall program.

It doesn't matter. Our roster is full of FCS players that couldn't start for Georgia State.

My memory as everybody here knows is fuzzy at times but I think Ross told the media he was not going to play many true freshmen and dont think he did.of course he had two awful years before he got results also.If we are not stockpiled with seasoned and proven players then..........play everybody we can and see what we come up with....you never know but hell.......we can go seven and five with playing a high school bunch.
