    Mikell Lands-Davis

Looking over our commits list as it stands right now, it is not too bad, Definitely improving. Almost all three star kids, and that is a big step forward. Some of our guys will be elevated to four stars between now and February. Of course, some of our guys will likely evaporate, too. Can we win with nothing but 3-star recruits? I think, yes. We have gotten to where we are now with a whole bunch of NR and 2 stars, so a bunch of 3 stars is POTENTIALLY better. We aren't ever going to have the class of a Texas A&M or Southern Cal, but even Georgia, or Louisville, or Clempsen or Michigan have a lot of three star signees.
We can live in a world where we have a class of twenty that is made up of 15 threes, two fours, and 3 twos or lower. Because our main competition is going to be a class of twenty that is 13 threes, 4 fours, 2 fives and an two. Rarely are we going to get that five star player, but the five stars sprinkled among our enemies often turn out to be Isaiah Crowell and get shipped off to the FCS. And a couple of our threes are in reality fours---even when they don't get recognized as such--they end up playing as such. Now the challenge is to keep getting commits, hang on to them until they are signed, and then get them eligible and keep them eligible.

(pssstt, don't look now, but it is almost July) THWG

Do you think this recruiting class is better than Coach Johnson's other classes at GT? His recruits have mostly been rated three-star during his years at GT.

What do you know about Lands-Davis? A number of good programs made offers to him. Is he really better than the 5.6 rating that Rivals gave him?

Can you tell me how many starters we had last year that were 2 star or NR and how many are first string on our projected depth chart for next year?

"We have gotten to where we are now with a whole bunch of NR and 2 stars ...."

Well, um, where we are now? Where is that?

VERY , VERY THANKFUL for this commit, but where we are now is not cutting it at all.

We need nothing but guys like this and hope it isn't too late for CPJ to get them.

He's saying that we're winning 7 with a bunch of FCS talent so an upgrade in talent will win us more games. I think he's trolling because we don't have "a whole bunch of 2 stars and NR" guys. Look at our starting lineup from last year. Only Robert Godhigh and Adam Gotsis were 2 star or NR. But I don't expect Yuke to actually look up something before posting.

    Starters this year: Laskey!

Looks like a good get for us. We're going to need a tailback in the coming years, so this is awesome! Watched 3 plays...Doesn't look very speedy though...but I'll put my confidence in all the other schools that did offer him.

Lol. Yes, we now have two really good RB's for the next coach, some really talented OL and several talented WR's. No excuses for the next guy.

Several of these guys who have major offers and are higher ranked 3 stars (Lands-Davis, Cooksey, Henderson) probably should get a bump up to a 4 star. There was a kid a few weeks ago that was a 2 star and when he committed to UGA, he got bumped up to a 4 star by the end of the day. We probably won't get that type of treatment but I wouldn't be surprised if as few of our guys end up being 4 stars by the end of the day. This is easily PJ's best class by this point. Were in the top 30 classes right now.

But I guess PJ won't get to coach them. It looks like this staff has finally turned to corner and with the stability and larger recruiting staff, recruiting has improved. But since we like to cycle through coaches every 6 or 7 years, we get to watch the next coach fumble around while trying to figure out how to recruit at GT, only to figure it out by year 6 and get fired after building some momentum. Should be interesting to watch.

Can't wait to hear, "but he's sucked since PJ's players left!"

Let's say we go 6-6 this year. Are you willing to give PJ the extension and gamble the next 5 years of GT football on the hope that this recruiting class is going to blow up for us? It sounds like you are in PJ's corner regardless of what happens this year. If so, that's ok, just say so. I'm looking for an official statement from you Cobb. What the hell is your opinion?

3* RBs with a couple of other big school offers should be par for the course. The bar has been set so low these last few years that we've lost perspective.
