    Paul's Deal with the Devil

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and when you find yourself between Iraq and a hard place, you do what you have to do I suppose. So, our coach, with a hot seat temperature somewhere similar to the surface of Mercury, decides to beseech the Hill for permission to go after somewhat lesser high school scholars. He's hoping to improve the team, win more games and assuage the angst of TechNation. In so doing, he may have put his stellar APR numbers in peril. How f'ng ironic. The one successful aspect of his tenure may end up being in shambles by trying to sign kids that can play but can't stay on course for graduation. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Is this really "Paul's" deal with the devil, or Tech's deal with the devil. The Hill put us in this predicament, IMHO.

Cue the "a pro style offense will attract better student athletes" response.

    Go JACKETS! THWG!

I don't care if these kids graduate or not...I hope they do but that's their responsibility to themselves. They are at GT for one reason: play good football. So, just stay eligible at the very least!

I hate to say it, but I'm coming around to this point of view, despite its frankly exploitative nature. If you're gonna field a team, be competitive with the best in your conference.

I am not there yet, but haven't the players become somewhat exploitative themselves. Not many are out there for altruistic reasons, the love of Ma Tech, to hell with Georgia and all that. Look at Vad Lee for example. Not exactly bleeding white and gold. Few of them are. Back in the day, hell, even 20 years ago, you would never have heard a Tech player make the comments Dwyer made--and his were relatively tame. I get it. It isn't the NCAA of the past. There is so much money out there. The season is year round---boards like this one attest to that. Twitter, Instagram, etc, put everything out there 24-7.
As I said, I ain't there yet. I still HOPE our guys go to class, hit the books, get a degree, and, of course, win the National Championship. Is that too much to ask?
