    In a positive vein.

This is not the time to gulp the kool-aid, but what have you seen lately that gives you some optimism that the program will be more successful this year than in recent seasons, and can be called indicative that Coach Johnson has things moving in the right direction again?
I would point to better talent and depth on the offensive line; if we follow with a couple of better signees next NSD we could have a special unit spreading across the next four to five seasons. Quarterback might become a real strength--at least we have 3 bodies, altho unproven at this level, that have potential and there is better depth than at any time in CPJ's tenure. The defensive line is a question mark, but we do have some size, and plenty of youngsters in the system providing next year depth and competition. The back seven could really be good. And if they are, we can mask some of our D-line weaknesses. Losing JHD was bad, but we have to press forward. Our kicker in specific, and our special teams in general are probably better than they have been in CPJ's time at Tech. Yes, we lost the coach, but let's see how the new guy does.

First of all I disagree with your eight games. But let's just say, for discussion's sake, we do have a team that was good enough to win 8 of the 12 scheduled. To me, if we have that kind of team, then we'd be good enough to win nine or ten. I will assume, correct me if I am wrong, that you see us losing four and I say those four would likely be Georgia, Clempsen, Miami, and VPI (or Duke???) But I am telling you, if we can beat UNC, NCST, UVA, Pittsburgh, and Duke, then we would be very capable of beating what promises to be a mediocre VPI team, and a Miami team that has no qb right now. And if we were to be a nine win kind of team, Clempsen and Georgia, on any given day. . . .. . .

Like I said, I really think 6-6. But there are really no super teams on our schedule, save Georgia. If we could win 8, there's a chance we could win a ninth or tenth. And being 9-2 going into the Georgia game? I've seen some strange goings-on in 50 plus years. And you have, too. We get to work out the kinks with Wofford and Tulane and get our timing down. A little more warming up against Southern. Who knows?
