What do you guys think? I'm all for it. We need to stop playing cupcakes. It needs to be a war every week.

Pac-12 coaches critical of SEC's decision to maintain 8-game conference schedule - ESPN

Only problem with 9 conference games is that we won't be able to play any other FBS OOC games other than UGA. Of course, BYU, Kansas, etc. isn't exactly what I envision as a quality OOC match up (even though we were 1-3). Regardless, there should be no more than 2 games vs high school teams per year. 25% of our schedule this year is Wofford, Tulane and Georgia Southern. When you only win 7 games and 3 are those teams...technically Tulane and Ga Sou are FBS, but come on.

We are not going to get fans in the seats playing Wofford, Elon, Alabama State, etc. Build a tough schedule and then recruit kids who want to prove they can play with anybody.

I agree, we could be a better team because of it even though our record wouldn't show it.

The other neg. would be the people who love those inflated stats.

"To be the man you have to beat the man"... Georgia Tech likes to beat up on the woman and then proclaim that it is the man.

Not to mention the occasional Middle Tenn State.

I'm actually more disappointed we went 0-2 vs BYU. Why even schedule BYU or Kansas? Those games aren't going to bring many extra fans to the game other than maybe some local Mormons. I don't mind the possibility of an extra loss. Hell, we went 1-3 vs those homely programs. All it really affects is bowl eligibility and if we can't get 6 wins elsewhere, we don't belong in a bowl anyway. That's how I look at it anyway.

In the "old days" you normally needed to win 7 games out of a tough 10 game schedule to even get invited to a bowl. But, you couldn't buy a ticket to a game at Grant Field. You could get one at the last minute from a scalper or from someone who had extra tickets. But, if you wanted season tickets, you had to inherit them.

And, GT played 7 games at home normally.

    Yep, times have changed.

But, we need to bring quality teams to Grant Field if we are to start rebuilding.

The soft teams on the schedule only helps coaches pad their resumes.

I agree with Jim. If you want to be considered one of the big dogs, you have to play them.
