Are Bowl Games Really Worth It?

Are bowl games worth it? A look at the 2014 recruiting rankings - SBNation.com

This guy argues strictly from a recruiting aspect, but does not factor in the extra practice time that I think is very useful. I also think there is a reward aspect to going to a bowl game that boosts the teams spirit that this guy doesn't speak of at all.

Reward aspect is probably, for GT anyway, the biggest plus. As long as players enjoy it.

Extra practice time? What kind of practice? Coached by whom? If it is the same coaches leading the team to 6 win seasons probably not worth it. Led by coaches leading the team to 9 / 10 win seasons, probably good practice time.

What about money lost by most teams going to bowl games?

Recruiting? Have not seen, in our case, a big difference. Don't think it has hurt - just not huge plus.
