I think the cross over schedule would be much more fun, but the two best ACC teams would get to go to the ACCCG - that could hurt us. Thoughts?

That would be very bad IMO. I think FSU and Clemson will be strong for the foreseeable future and this helps the. Out a lot. One might argue this is more fair though. The Coastal has been notoriously weak of late. A 6-6 team should NEVER be playing in a Conf champ...or Duke for that matter. I think it's safe to say VT and Miami have been pretty dissapointing.
I like it. The 2 best should play for the ACCCG.

It's bad for Tech but good for the ACC.
We've blown our chance to win the ACC and be in a BCS bowl the past few years of a ridiculously-weak ACC Coastal. Combining the conference into 1 will make it very difficult to rise to the top.
What should our main goal be?? Please don't say to beat UGA.
I believe things run in cycles what may be true today may not be so next year or in the near future. While clearly FSU was in a league of their own...they owned Clemson, I believe in the near future and many years to come we will be competitive. IMHO.
HMMM, what SHOULD our main goal be? Thats a good question, Helluva. To what [realistic?] standard should our program be held? We're pretty upset about the prospect of being stuck in 7-5 Chan land again. Maybe we should expect a minimum 8 win program consistantly. I think we already expect to keep the bowl streak alive - thats pretty much a given. How about to win one out of every three bowl games? One out of two? Dogs: One out of every 5? ACCCG: one in every 3 to 5 years?
I hope I didn't open a can of worms?
