    Our recruiting is a joke

I was just looking at the pre-NSD projected class rankings. Not only are we not in the top 40 in the country, we are no better than 8th in the ACC, and no better than fifth in the Coastal Division. We did, however, get on on Georgia State's players to flip, and I am hearing rumors that Lambda Chi Alpha's starting intramural OL was considering going out as a walk-on this spring. Instant quality depth. It's a joke, just not a very funny one.

F rankings. This is a GOOD class. I can think of 6 guys off the top of my head who would get magic bumps in their rankings (as happens all the time) if they accepted an offer from another school (UCLA, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri, etc).

Ah yes, the nucleus of the 2017 National Championship squad, no doubt.

Not clear on any of the guys we signed except the twins from Barnesville.Saw them and they will hit you but at 5feet 9 and 175 wonder where they will play. Two sides to the arguement. Some say we recruit badlly as evident by eight teams we play next year having better years than we are having.Good point no doubt since we have not,in six years, been that well thought of by recruiting experts. Now some say this is a good year since we have all the hoops we have to jump throught to get folks in tech and they have a point. Some say we take the 2 star and coach him up and that is okay too but folks its time to figure out this............what we have on Saturday aint as good as what the other guy has so time to get it on no matter if its lack of recruiting good players or having poor coaching.I dont worry about who we sign but as sideline or sidewalk fan just look at the product on Saturday.Time to get it on.

Our class is bigger and better than last year. Our average star rating is right around 3 stars just like it always is (2.95). If you go by average star rating, our class is in the top 40 (36th). Some schools are ranked ahead of us because they had more scholarships to give. We snagged a four star DB, got some much needed bulk on the O-line, and some intriguing athletes. We also didn't lose anyone at the last minute like we have in years past, and we still have a shot at another guy or two this afternoon. I would love more, but I find a lot to like in this recruiting class.

The fact is that this a good class for GT. Don't get me started on how they determine how many stars a kid gets. Seems like this forum has a lot of people that just want taken out their frustrations on PJ and staff. We have a good coach and with a change at QB we can get back on track on offense next year. Be careful what you ask for.....or you might just turn out to be another Nebraska. They are just now recovering from listening to the uniformed masses and firing a good coach.
    Keeping the faith, Go GT!

I saw Lamar Co play on TV in in December. They seemed like excellent football players and overall athletes. And they played fast.

I realize the ratings are somewhat subjective, but here is a smattering of the powerful programs that have, by the ranking authority, been adjudged to have had a better recruiting experience that we have:
    Syracuse
    South Florida (yep)
    Kentucky
    Virginia
    Pittsburgh
    Indiana
    North Carolina State
    Western Michigan

Most of the teams are signing 25-30 guys and if you sign a million 2 stars, your ranking goes up.

Our average star rating right now, according to scout, is 2.85. After Autry signs, it would be 3.00. If that happens, and all signs are pointing to that happening, our average star rating will be higher than every single one of those teams you just listed except Kentucky, who has a top 20 class, and NC state who is sitting at 26 with 31 recruits. Western michigans average rating is 2.56 but they are ahead of us because they signed 7 more guys.

Of course these teams have better rankings. They're signing 6-10 more guys than we are!
