What most of the Paul Johnson supporters don't understand or want to admit is that after 5-7, years when a coach is still mediocre or slightly above mediocre, like Paul Johnson is and has been, interest wanes, ticket sales start drying up, luxury suites become empty and most important, donations evaporate.

That is where the Georgia Tech program is at right now under Paul Johnson. There's no buzz, there's no excitement and quite frankly there isn't a lot of interest and there's not a damn one of you that can dispute that, either. You know it is true. The GTAA had to literally give tickets away this year to get people in the seats. Some of those ticket specials would have made the "blue light special" folks at KMart proud.

Too many Georgia Tech grads and fans wouldn't leave the house if it was on fire. You'd lay on the couch while it burned and you'd come up with a thousand excuses why the fire feels good.

It's over, folks. The Paul Johnson tenure is dead. Whether he goes 7-5 or 8-4, it doesn't matter. Few people care anymore. You can sit there with your excel spreadsheets and your data points and all that nonsense to try and prop up Paul Johnson, but it doesn't mean anything. It's over. It is just a matter of when until the hearse pulls up and hauls Paul Johnson's GT career away to the morgue.

It makes sense to compare any disfavored team to the ultimate victorious underdog when talking about whether or not there's a chance. The point isn't "we're App. State and they're Michigan," the point is that there's no reason to write off any team before the game's played. The gap between App. State and Michigan was perceived to be much larger than us and U(sic)GA this year.

Upsets happen. If we win this year, yes, it would be an upset. But it wouldn't even come close to making the list of the top 100 upsets of all time.
Take your low expectations and love of mediocre football elsewhere, pal. You enjoy $hit football - I don't. Who said anything about a cross?

Ga Tech isn't App. State. We're not some div I-AA team playing the mutts. Your comparison sucked.

Vandy wasn't either and they whipped the mutts. You Johnsonians don't even put us on the level of f'ing Vanderbilt - that's how low your heroic coach has taken this program.

Exactly what he did - compared our chances of beating the mutts to App State's chances of beating Michigan.

The Navy one was amusing. That was the worst Notre Dame team in half a century that Navy beat. That was an enjoyable victory to watch.

    Paul Johnson

I come to praise Paul Johnson not to bury him. Jim and the others here that feel Paul Johnson is finished are living in fantasy land. He will be our coach until he decides to retire. He is building our program the right way and we will reap the benefits of his efforts soon.

You might as well move along and find something else to occupy your time. Life is too short to waste it on hating on Paul Johnson.

    Go Jackets!

You said the same thing about Chan Gailey, Jerry. How did that work? You're 0 for 1 now.. your track record is not good. That's the problem with time and experience.. it exposes the truth.

Fools us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. Well, it ain't happening.

Once again, you're too thick to understand the point of what I'm saying. Maybe if I make really, really simple sentences, you'll understand. I was not comparing us to Appalachian State. I was making the point that underdogs can win. Bigger underdogs than Georgia Tech have stepped up and won. There's no reason to write us off before the game is played. Got it yet? Or is your reading comprehension so poor that I have to start grunting and gesticulating like I'm talking to a damn mutts fan?

As for the idea that I enjoy "$hit football," this is exactly what I was talking about when I said "come down off your cross." You aren't being personally persecuted by the failures of GT football. Trust me, I enjoy winning a whole lot more than losing, but I'm not going to start $h!tting on everything and everyone because I'm unhappy with a handful of losses. I'm not going to write the season off prematurely, just like I'm not going to label the Chiefs (my hometown and favorite NFL team) a success after week 8.

Unless GT can upgrade it's football coach we're better off with who we've got. I've also said a hundred times that unless the Hill wants to have a successful football program you could put Satan in here and we'd still be a 7-6 or 8-5 level program.
    +1
