    Rocket toss dissected

For those tired of taking sides and bashing away each other, here's some cerebral film study of one of our best known and best utilized plays and it's counters. It really shows why and how it's so devastating if executed properly. What caught my eye was the devil is in the details. An OL taking a bad or good track can make all the difference between a huge gain and a play blown up in the backfield. It's not just OL, but every single player on O.

As CPJ likes to say "Always remember the little things make the big things happen." (I got that from his twitter account!)

If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

Probably my favorite play of all time - to run as a RB, to defend as an OLB and to run in video games.

Did you actually read the arcticle?

Maybe if you boned up on the nuts and bolts, you could hang with Stylee in a debate.

    Yup.

Nuts and bolts have nothing to do with disliking a style of play.

Once again my head hurts in trying to follow how much the game has changed or evolved and while none of 'em are worth it, it also helps explain why football coaches today aren't your dad's football coaches anymore. I am still trying to work through it, but a question: GT always seems to work best to the right. It is because of the back, Smith, the right side of the O line being better than the left, or because maybe GT is just a righthanded team? Or am I missing more success than I recall to the left?
Thanks for posting the link. I think.

Yeah it's probably my favorite play as well. I also use it (well not the flexbone version) in video games - gotta find space outside!

DCS - thanks for posting / reposting / whatever. The best part of the site for me is when I can learn something about the "philosophy" behind how the O or D works. Like when Boomer or Stylee hold class.
