"A compass, I learnt when I was surveying, it'll... it'll point you True North from where you're standing, but it's got no advice about the swamps and deserts and chasms that you'll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

11 out of 12. When will this stop?
Bobby Godd never, not once, ever blamed his boys for a loss. It was always on his shoulders, and his shoulders alone. That is greatness. This is not. --YukonWreck

Almost 20 offers and 11 months to go. Our chances? Snowball.
Colorado kid. Hope he does come to GT and finds he likes it. I spent some time today evaluating kids for a GT scholarship. We are getting many amazingly smart and community involved kids coming to GT. Hopefully, some of what motivates those kids can apply to a few elite athletes.
That, my friends, is athletic royalty. His dad is Ed McCaffrey, wide receiver for the Giants, 49ers and Broncos, all-American at Stanford. His grandfather played basketball at St. Joseph's, low post at 6-2. His brother, Billy, played basketball at Duke and Vanderbilt, and his sister played basketball at Georgetown. Note that not one of those schools is anything but top rank academically. I knew his grandparents years ago and once coached his dad in church basketball. Can't imagine him coming east, but can imagine him at Stanford. His grandparents and his dad would want to throttle him if he said Alabama or some such. It'd be a great get for any number of reasons, but I just doubt it. Good try though.
What the hell is an ABack exactly?
Is Tech's offense the only one to have an ABack?
Why can't a TE play that position?
Why not a WR?
Anyway this kids looks to be a perfect "ABack" for what it's worth.
ABs, in my very humble opinion, is a great place to put a devastating playmaker like a Percy Harvin or Tavon Austin who just ran a 4.2 40 at the NFL combine. Orwin Smith was a great player for us, but I think he would be a very average RB in "traditional" offenses. ABs are essentially a cross breed between a running back and a slot receiver. They have the potential to go 100 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing pretty much any game (I believe Orwin did it). I think they get a bad rap because they only get 5-8 touches a game, but I think it's because I think CPJ hasn't had a devastating playmaker at AB while at GT to focus the offense on. If we had two great playmakers at AB...well, good luck defense. How do you defend a guy who is a mismatch for LBs in pass coverage and too strong for DBs in open space? Two of those types of ABs?
I think having a QB like Vad is going to make CPJ a lot more creative with the AB slots. When Custis and Jeune said CPJ intends to "open up" the offense, I think the ABs will benefit the most from it. I can see us having two ABs who have 1,000+ yards of total offense each in the future. Heck, Orwin almost had a 1,000 yard and missed some games, and Godhigh had almost 700 yards. Imagine getting guys like Corn Elder and Myles Autry there...guys who are more athletes than RBs.
So essentially a WR with running abilities, but virtually are on the outside lookin in on any other offense since they don't run from under center. If I recall correctly BJ Bostic was recruited as a special playmaker.
