    TJ Barnes NFL Combine Interview

    Falcons blog | Atlanta Falcons | www.ajc.com

We've given him grief because of how we thought he should have played given his physical gifts, but this guy was an exemplary SA during his time here. Great interview, and he doesn't throw the program (specifically CPJ's offense) under the bus like former SAs have when talking about how practicing against the "triple option" affects his preparation.

Did not know he came from a pretty impressive football family. Good luck to TJ at the next level!

That damned Johnson. Optimistic until the bitter end. Oh, wait. We won. Like he said. Damn, there's a ruined script.

"Q: Were you surprised that you beat USC in the Bowl game?
A: That’s one thing coach (Paul) Johnson said, “We’re going to win this Bowl game.” That’s one thing we all believed in and that’s how we worked throughout the whole bowl season."

Hopefully CPJ says we will be undefeated next year.

Not losing the weight with a million$ on the line shows why neither he nor def was worth a crap.

I wish him the best but if he somehow makes it in the NFL, I am really going to question our DL coaching.

    Ran a 5.22 in the 40
    Impressing everyone there.
Benched 25 reps at 225lb (thats OK) honestly a man that size should be stronger imo.

Think he gets drafted 4th or 5th imo.

It would definately raise a red flag and that could be the reason. However, there are other possibilities as we, we just don't know. Is it lack of motivation that suddenly changes with $$$ added to the equation? Is it natural progression as some kids are late bloomers? Is it the fact that our SA's have to be S's whereas other SA's are only A's?

I'm not going to guess as to why, but to say it's definitely coaching is myopic.

Then again, maybe the new DL coach was brought in for more than just recruiting?

Saw this on TOS from 33jacket ( a guy who posts on the other two boards but not this one, but used to be a co-host on Jim's Meet the Machine Show. Hmmm....)

despite his size, TJ is better suited to be a 3tech than 0tech we had him play here

I think NFL teams will see this once they watch his tape. I actually have already heard a few scouts say this....

We have never seen him play a 3tech here....i think if we had him do that in a 4-3 he would have been far more impactful.
Maybe Groh's scheme (3-4) was the real culprit???

    I don't see it.
He simply had poor conditioning and poor coaching. If there is such a thing as being too large for a 43 defense he would fit the bill.
