We have a GT coach on Twitter now! Only the AB coach though.

He mentions the struggles ZL and BS had learning BB when talking about Custis' chances of playing. I don't recall ZL struggling - wasn't last year his first at the position? Thought he was Safety Fr year? The years run together. Also, no mention of Perkins, which is understandable.

We have 11 career receptions returning at WR, which is 11 more than last year but still...it does not instill confidence. Hope VL can put WRs back on the stat sheet this year.

Except for the offensive line and linebackers, we are still a pretty young and/or unproven team. We will rely heavily on undeclassmen such as Kallon, Gamble, Griffin, Autry, Summers, Waller, etc., to give us quality minutes immediately. Special teams will once again be young.

ZL couldn't block at all in his first few games there. We had to rely on an injured Sims a lot of the time. I remember ZL blowing up a LB for Vad's TD run against BC an thinking "he's finally gotten it "

I just don't understand how hard it can be to dive at a players legs.
More like poor LB play to me, didn't get his hands on him i guess because he was expecting to be blocked like a man. I like my football more physical, we are some weenie leg blocking mofos. Whatever works though.

Oh, yeah. Knocked that sucker flat, so to speak. I thought it was a great two-fer: we saw what Lee could bring to the table, and Laskey clocked a linebacker. I am trying not to get excited over '13, but it is hard.

It ain't that easy, and if a 210 pound back tries to take on a 245-pound linebacker upper body in space, guess who is toast? The real problem though is that you have to want to, really want to, stick your face in there. Took me almost a full season in HS just to get the timing down, as more often than not early on the intended target just stepped over me.

You don't have to knock the guy down. All you have to do is stop him and keep him from making a play. Best way is to stick your head in his chest and tie him up. A low block will work but you had better make sure you make contact and not just dive at the legs. Duck your head and dive at the legs will most of the time put you in space and your man makes the play. Then you get your butt burned in the film room.

    Thanks Nuke, good article.

6 scholarships to specialists. But in 2014, it'll be down to 3.

I really hope Butker makes others backups.

Laskey did punt returns his freshman year. He didn't play after he dropped the ball. Miami scooped it up and ran in for a TD.
