Following UGA, Georgia Tech on Twitter | College Recruiting | www.ajc.com
Sure Carvell is a d*ck but he makes a good point and pretty much exposes an issue that is pretty damning to CPJ. It's one thing to be old school and antiquated in your approach on the football field, but for a technology school to not lead and be on the cutting edge when it comes to recruiting and communication in general is embarrassing. Twitter is old news for kids now who are all active on Instagram and other social media platforms. Geez you wonder why GT is behind in recruiting.
I'm less concerned about twitter and more about recruiting nationally.
This thread's embarrassing.
Twitter's for twits. There are a half dozen internet platforms better suited for communication between coaches and players. This whole issue is the product of off season story hunting by the idiots employed to have stories.
Oh, and it feeds the trolls and gives them fodder for message board rants. At least it's good for something.

"A compass, I learnt when I was surveying, it'll... it'll point you True North from where you're standing, but it's got no advice about the swamps and deserts and chasms that you'll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

I'll be honest, I don't even have a twitter, but I'm on facebook all the time. I don't really understand the positives of having a twitter vs. facebook. Why limit yourself to 140 characters? And the hashtag business is nonsensical to me.

I volunteer with youth it's a BIG deal, social media is a BIG Deal, but Twitter is old hat and kids are on it all day long. again i would think Tech would be all over this monitoring player comme ts and actively speaking with current players never the less recruiting. Are coaches using Skype i dont believe there is NCAA time limit on that. If you dont believe its a big deal the. You have your head in the sand. make me wonder what else Tech is behind on. Stanford players get iPad and have their plays sent to them for them to study.
OMG Coach Paul Johnson is at it again! He refuses to use MySpace and Xanga to reach out to new recruits!
FIRE CPJ!!!!!!!!!!!
It is what it is.

Cheese is right about Twitter - it's trivial and silly. But if it's something that makes a difference in recruiting, we should do it. If all the kids use it, we should.
It wouldn't take much for a graduate assistant to run a CPJ twitter account and send out stuff 2 or 3 x a week, even though the idea of ornrey ole CPJ on Twitter is enough to crack me up.
It's much ado about nothing.
Richt has only been on there 7 months or so. Grantham and Bobo aren't on there at all.
Should we have a presence there? Yes.
But it's not like we're light years behind. (as the writer would infer and some would like to think)
