Kelly Quinlan thinks this guy will commit to us this weekend. Currently committed to Temple, but...
Reminds me a lot of Jemea Thomas...not big, but a great knack for the ball on defense, and makes plays on offense. Brings the wood. If he was a couple of inches taller, he's be at a high major school. Wonder if he has the tools to transition to DB...would think we're recruiting him to replace Tolando Cleveland.
I hear we may have 2 more commits coming as well..we'll see...
It's being reported that he has committed to us.
Welcome to GT, Paul!
I see this kid ending up on defense. Plays fast & physical. Strong safety, imo.
I remember another guy named PJ who did us proud not so long ago...
Welcome to GT Paul!
In the past GT football has often been JUST GOOD ENOUGH TO BREAK YOUR HEART!
I believe we are on the way to getting where we all want to be - Win Championships, and be more competitive with UGa and Bowl Games.
QB's looking up, WR's coming along(?), Welcome CTR, CMP and new AD, We have some good recruiters with a good class coming, Stamps back to ST's, all 3 phases should be better this year than last. We have team speed to match anyone we play.
What's not to like?
We essentially traded Douglas for Davis.
I liked Douglas' athleticism but I think this is a better signing for us ultimately; we need defensive players, not another BB/AB project in this class. Now, we may need to load up on ABs next year, but I think Douglas was projected to begin at B anyway.
This guy isn't going to blow anyone away with numbers but he looks to be a gamer. I remember an undersized LB we had a few years back.... tell this kid to grab #40.
I guess he's a safety.
If we're eventually going back to a 4-3 base look, an undersized guy at LB with a nose for the ball that can bring the wood isn't a bad deal. We had one guy in Julian Burnett, and he actually reminds me of Rennie Curran that played for UGA a few years back that developed into one of the top 'backers in the nation and got drafted by the Titans. If not LB, he can play strong safety and enforce the short and intermediate areas. Love this kid's toughness and nose for the ball...he's great at diagnosing the play, reacting, and punishing the ball carrier. Regardless of what team you have, you always need the Julian Burnett/Rennie Curran types that play above their physical stature.
I think he's a combination of Jemea's athleticism, and Julian's toughness. I just hope we can find a position for him. He's definitely a "football player".
Don't know about the player, but if the Cairo is as in Georgia/Jackie Robinson Cairo, I played against 'em years ago in Cairo. Never been hit so hard, so often, so incessantly in HS or small college. Only game I ever played that left me still sore the following Tuesday. Our coaches thought it humorous. I hope they still grow them as tough.
Good luck on the Flats, PD.

A current Tarheel commit is on campus for his OV from what I see.
Edit: It's this guy http://georgiatech.scout.com/a.z?s=1...=1&nid=6096708 who went to the same HS as Vad Lee.
