Per article on AJC [URL="http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/college-recruiting/2013/jan/23/coach-ex-georgia-tech-recruit-what-went-wrong/"] Jeremi Hall's high school coach is acting like Jeremi's visit was reason for parties to split ways. I posted about this a few days ago, but this coach makes us out to be the "bad guys". Again I sure hope this does not affect Devine's commitment.

If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

geez, here we go again with these coaches. jeremi COMMITTED. that means he's done--finished--"obligated" (according to merriam-webster) to sign with us. if you're still taking official visits a few weeks before NSD you are obviously NOT committed. he seems to think other recruits are getting special treatment. has anyone else made an official visit lately with so little time before NSD--especially a secret visit in which tech's staff was not notified??? not that i know of. we all know of the circumstances surrounding the kid (name's not on tip of tongue) who made the last minute visit and got his schollie rescinded a few years ago. so, this ain't our first rodeo with this kinda deal. how can this guy feel as if jeremi's being treated any differently considering recent history?
miller asks if tech entertains recruits that are committed to other schools. so the eff what if they do! that's between that recruit and the school they're so called "committed" to. CPJ can't make this any more clear. if you're still looking, we're still looking. that's the way most coaches operate and i wouldn't have it any other way. what are we supposed to do? get the rug pulled out from under us at the last second? hell no!

Why does it seems like this happens wayyyyy too often for us ever since Paul Johnson became the coach?

This happens because it is CPJs rules to recruits when they are recruiting them. They tell them to take their time and make sure before they commit. They don't want a fake commitment where the guy is committed but visiting another college every other week. It is hard to bank on a guy being there on NSD if he is doing that; but at the same time he may sign and if they offer a schollie to another kid because of kid #1's waffling and kid #1 winds up signing, now Tech is endanger of oversigning and having to tell kid#2 that he had to grey shirt if he wants to come, or tell him you won't honor it. The second scenario is worse than the current one. Of course if the kid could sign the Letter of intent at anytime during their senior year and not have to wait till NSD, then these issues would not happen. Of course Tech would have to have more exceptions in that scenario because fewer guys would have their newer SAT scores in if their first was too low.
Seriously? We've seen plenty of examples that show that this type of policy is not something specific to CPJ. I'm not gonna search through the board to find all the coaches mentioned that have a rule like this though. Also I believe this is the 3rd kid that we've lost like this, although it could only be the 2nd since the only name I can remember is Aycock, who you mentioned as well. If there's more then this someone correct me...
you're right, babuka. CPJ's honest and upfront approach somehow comes across as being inconsiderate. while other coaches who greyshirt and oversign seem to get a pass. absolutely makes NO sense to me! we've beaten this dead horse for years. other recruits have commented on his honest approach and appreciate it. the only ones that have an issue are the kids who don't seem to get what the word commitment means. then, it's time to cry in their milk. guess some think they can have their cake and eat it, too. well, that just doesn't work with regards to recruiting.
There is nothing wrong with CPJ's approach in these kind of matters. Integrity counts. He is trying to establish integrity to the process. We will honor our commitment and the kids needs to stand by theirs. People should get mad at coaches who over-sign and hose kids in the process, not CPJ. If we lose kids to this policy, so be it. I only want kids of character and honor to wear white and gold. I would rather these defects in character get discovered at this stage of the game, rather than 2 years down the road when a kid turns into the turd in the punch bowl.
