This Bodes Well For GT QBs

A pretty good read concerning where the QB position is going...and not because of the "it" offense right now in the NFL:

Jeremiah: Trend to mobile quarterbacks will take time - NFL.com

"I just think we've had a phenomenal run on these athletic signal-callers over the last few years," Jeremiah said Tuesday on 'NFL AM.' "I think eventually we're going to get to that because the high schools (are) going to produce more, therefore colleges will produce more, but I don't think this trend is going to totally change here in the next few years."
A few years ago there was an article that elite passers were a dying bread because so many schools were running some form of the option, and a lot of colleges were adapting because that's who they had to recruit. More colleges are running the option now, and elite one dimensional QBs like Manning and Brady are getting fewer and fewer as you rise in each level.

Well, the smart coaches adapted, and tweaked their offenses to take advantage of the "new bread' of QBs. While the hard headed ones suffered through mediocre QB play, and didn't know what to do when they couldn't get the top tier QBs.

Maybe Tevin will get invited to a camp because of his mobility, and there's not too many high caliber dual threat guys. Gonna need someone to take the reps during camp!

I think Tevin could have a solid career in the NFL as an assistant coach, teaching mobile QBs how not to get the s*** knocked out of them, because if there was one thing he did really well, it was avoiding the big hits.

RG3 has taken a massive beating this year. I don't care how tough he is; he won't last if he keeps getting hit like that. If I were an owner, I'd want to protect my multi million dollar investment.

Vad didn't get the yardage these guys did. Vad had 544 rushing and 596 passing. The minimum passing for any of these guys was 2100 yards.

At least this year we will see a lot of Vad - or JT will be even better. Since TW got 1222 yards passing this year, I can see Vad getting 2000 this year and making the list next year.

i genuinely hope CPJ tweaks the O to add more pistol and passing to utilize the talents of vad and justin outta this formation. that will definitely bode well for our program into the future as it will attract bona fide, dual-threat QB talent. kidding ourselves into thinking kids don't wanna have the chance to sling the ball on the DI level in a major conference is asinine. kids do! they wanna showcase all their talents.

Wait a second. Those numbers are damn near 50/50. Is it a sign of how much PJ is willing to pass if the QB actually has the arm for it?

Those numbers didn't come from playing in garbage time. He had plenty of meaningful minutes.

I just rewatched the Sun Bowl and the announcers said CPJ told them Vad can throw and they're putting in a package take advantage of that.

Not only are we returning a more athletic qb with an accurate arm and decent experience, but we also return almost the entire OL and WR corps. Remember at the start of last year we didn't even have a WR with a catch. The Abacks are going to be a big part of the passing game again, as they were this past year.

Not at all. TW had 684 rushing to 1,222 passing or 64/36 passing. Also, VL passed on 56 plays vs 96 runs (37% pass) while TW was 43% pass.

so VL is actually behind the current mark, which is weird considering he is a far better passer.
