I hope he can learn the nuts and bolts of his position so he can showcase that speed. If not, it's just a wasted talent.

Pretty much. Supposedly Embry Peeples was fast but he didn't do much.

11 out of 12. When will this stop?

Yes - he certainly needs to work on that portion of his game, but I believe the coach has to also work to find creative ways to utilize that speed.

Peeples was slight and went down easy. To his credit he became a good blocker and was pretty good as a receiver. It's one thing to be fast it's another to have power and speed like Dwyer.

You obviously never watched him play. He was the most productive of the small/speedy type A-backs. Unfortunately he lacked the power to make big plays regularly (like Orwin or Roddy), but he was lightning quick in the open field...

EP was kind of a form running glider. That made him easy to knock off his feet. Plus, I get the feeling he wasn't as fast with his pads on and a ball in one hand. He was a productive player, but never really reached the potential that we all saw in him early. Snoddy has shown us quite a burst already with the pads on. He is "football fast" and not just a sprinter. He will help us in many ways. How much is yet to be seen.

    I'm gonna miss Orwin.

so what is it with Snoddy? Blocking? Learning the offense and its variables? Hands? Or is it just the old bugaboo with speed? it is all straight ahead. We could sure use that speed if he could harness it to open field running, blocking and cuts. Maybe at the end of the day he is a sprinter, and belongs on the track team.

We are all going to miss Orwin Smith. More than most of us think right now. The kid was a player. I just watched the UNC-GT game again, and that 4th and 13 or so when he ducked a tackler and sprinted down the sideline to score was amazing. He should have been dead game. He has been great at, and great for, GT. I hope he hooks on in the NFL if that is what he wants.
