If we lose, any chance Smith gets canned? 0-4 in the playoffs is pretty hard to swallow.
The Falcons are starting to remind me of the Hawks back in the Mookie Blalock/Dikembe Mutumbo/Steve Smith days. They'd make it to a certain point but just couldn't get past it...though in their defense it's was always against MJ's Bulls. How far have the Falcons come where we're complaining about a 13-3 team?
BTW...the only GT players left in the playoffs are Vance Walker and Kevin Cone (he's on the IR though) with the Falcons and Anthony Allen with the Ravens.
I personally consider a first round bye a win. So IMO they are 2-3 in the playoffs. They should have beaten the Cardinals in their first trip to the playoffs, who by the way come within a Santonio Holmes catch of winning the Super Bowl. The last two teams they lost too won the Super Bowl. Just really bad luck of the draw, because average teams make the playoffs every year, but so far the Falcons have only played what turned out to be the top two teams each turn. A 3 game losing streak sucks, but if the Falcons would have lost to Arizona, Green Bay, and NYG three games in a row in the regular season would anybody notice? It just happens to be in the playoffs so the storyline is magnified by 10. Do the Falcons need to play better? Yes. If they are good enough to win the Super Bowl it doesn't matter which teams they play, they should win. I look at it as more a statistical anomaly than as I do anything. It is extremely hard to win 13 games in the NFL and they have done it twice in 5 years. Even if they don't get it done this year, if they keep playing good enough to win 14 games in the regular season it would be only a matter of time before they win it all. 3 games is not a trend nor a good basis for a future predictor; too small a sample size.
This may be the biggest game in franchise history, IMO. Undoubtedly, there has been an overall improvement of the franchise since Mike Smith has been coach but if they don't win today something is bad wrong. They seem to be missing a few pieces on Defense and on Offense they seem to have not have the toughness to get a yard or two when needed. I know Smith is the HC but is Dimitroff getting him the pieces he needs?

God, how the Falcons can take an easy win and give you a heart attack. THAT, my friends, was a Georgia Tech game in the NFL.
Kudos to Matty Ice, and Especially Matt Bryant, for their heroics at the end.
Oh, have I mentioned this defense SUCKS? Especially the linebackers!!
i just don't get it. huge lead going into the half. all the momentum in the world. come out okay in the 3rd then go dormant for a quarter and a half. they've done this crap numerous times this season and it just about bit them in the ass yesterday. thank god they've gotta kicker like bryant!
gonna be a helluva game next sunday versus the 49ers!
Reminded me of a few GT games...the offense decided they had scored enough points and decided to quit.
SF is going to be tough!
yep. the 12th man needs to really RISE UP!!! smitty's gotta keep this team's edge honed. we called the dogs off too early yesterday. they go limp against harbaugh and kaepernick and we can forget it. that kid's playing extremely well. gotta keep the pressure on. we sorely need abraham healthy in this game to help get kap outta rhythm. he's still a rookie. someone's gotta rattle his cage.
Missing Abraham like we did in the 2nd half yesterday and it's pretty much no-shot at SF.
