For those that may not be overly thrilled with the return of ted roof to tech football and for all the rest still trying to digest this surprising turn of events; let's tale a walk down memory lane.
Bobby dodd in his career at tech defeated those scoundrals over athens way 12 times beginning in 1947 and then winning a series record of eight in a row from 1949 through 1956; a series record that stands to this day. Dodd won in 1961, 1962 & 1963 and retired after the 1966 season having beaten the dogs 12 times in his career.
Since dodd retired tech has beaten the dogs only 12 times over the last 46 years; the same amount dodd won in 22 years.
Of those paultry twelve wins we have enjoyed during this time who do you think has been envolved in more wins over uga than any other individual during these 46 years of pestilence??
How about ted roof?! He played against the dogs in tech's wins in 1984 and 1985.
Ted was linebacker coach in1998 and defensive cord in 1999 and 2000.
Ted has been a part of five (05) of the twelve wins; almost half of our wins during this time. Pretty amazing. Maybe he has some turpentine to rub on the dogs tails or some majic dust. Maybe we might want to give him a shot at it and see what happens.
Wow, no idea about that. It's not often I'm surprised by a stat and this one ranks right up there with the most surprising.
If you want to get deeper into it, Roof was at Auburn during the National Championship Game as well.
He's also had great "luck" being at schools at the right time when "once in a generation" talent was at QB. Joe Hamilton during the O'Leary years, Adam Weber at Minnesota Cam Newton at Auburn...now he returns to GT as the Vad Lee and/or Justin Thomas era is about to begin.
Call it luck or magic dust, GT could sure use a lot of it the next few years...especially CPJ. As a numbers guy, the thing I like about Roof is he's made defenses better everywhere he's been. Oh, and the guy can recruit....
Give him a shot.Rather go with a tech guy anyway.Hellxhexmay get PJ to bring back ROOF era unis.
Doesn't matter now. Just wait and see and hope for the best, which is also my plan for PJ.
A lot has happened since Dodd: in the state and nation in case you haven't noticed. To list them would take volumes.
Uh, yeah

Agree with you on ted.we have not stopped folks since the JT years so lets let one of our own have a shot.As loyal tech fan for over sixty years we have seen tech go up and down with recruiting and if Ted can get us some hosses then lets do it.Next lets get decent unis and of course......beat Ga
Yep and many of us have seen many changes but football is still tackling, running and blocking etc and that doesnt change. It still takes a moitivator as a coach to get folks to practice hard in August etc but it is still football. We need to adapt sure but we need fundamental players who can do the most important things when they get here so we can practice other things. Agree with you the state and nation have changed but we need to get back to what made us great........good solid football.
