I wrote about one time GT recruit Nick Marshall a while ago, and his journey from GT's future super star QB to UGA pariah:
Vad Who? How Vad Lee Almost Never Was
The sad thing is, had he listened to his heart and his head instead of other people, we probably would have been talking about the Dawn of Nick instead of the Age of Vad. Unfortunately, young guys like him trust that people in their lives have their best interest at heart. Sadly, that's not the case all the time. I just read an update on Nick, and it REALLY made me mad. Not gonna name any names, but if you read the articles I linked to in the thread above, and read the quotes in the update article below, it's pretty disappointing how some people can say two different things about the same situation. GT coaches knew something smelled fishy in the state of Denmark back then, this article just proves it. Don't get me wrong, his choices off the field was his ultimate undoing, but Nick probably could have avoided that with a more rigorous atmosphere that GT demands while working to play the position he loved most.
Texas offers former UGA DB as a quarterback | AJC College Sports Recruiting
With signing day a few weeks away, it won't be the last time we hear stories like this. Makes you kinda sad that a lot of kids don't have people in their lives who have their best interest at heart.
UGa recruiting sleazy? No way!
Eh, I think this ended up being a good 'dodged bullet' situation, a la Quincy Carter, Pacman Jones, etc...
Dude has a shot at playing QB for Texas? I wouldn't feel too sorry for him. Good for him that he seems to have cleaned up his act though. A little tribulation can a good thing sometimes.
I think his story has an upside for GT. We can say to future dual threat qb recruits, "Hey, look at what happened to Nick Marshall. Had he come to Tech, we may be talking about as the next RGIII right now."

If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

Why would a coach want a kid on the team that needs a personal behavior change?
I wish him success.
Add to the long list of reasons I hate UGA.
