Lets bite the bullet, work out a long term payment plan with Paul Johnson, and bring in Georgia Godsey as head coach. George would come in here at a low end salary that would make it feasible to make this happen..
If Paul Johnson remains the head coach at Georgia Tech it would be the same as if a husband connected with a series of right hooks to his wife's head then threw her through a plate glass window and they stay married..
George Godsey has a very impressive resume, unlike Paul Johnson understands the UGA vs GT rivalry, and has an outstanding football mind.
I don't usually care about bringing in "Georgia Tech Men"... I just think George is that good...

How about we look for a good defensive coordinator? We don't have the chedda to fire the head coach, continue paying him, and then bring in another HC for $$$. Not for at least 2 more years. That's the problem UT (Vols) going to have this year.
Where is he currently? Ucf, patriots?
Paul has to recruit better. That's all there is to it, we saw that the offense worked well when they had the second string in, because the athletes matched up on both sides of the ball at that point. We have to recruit better, plain and simple. Hopefully we can get a defensive coordinator that can put a semi respectable defense on the field next year. You can say our talent isn't good, but there is no excuse for being as bad as we are on defense.
Hire a guy who's never even been a coordinator? I'd be okay with hiring him in some capacity, but not as the head man, especially considering we'd have to buy out CPJ's contract and then turn the reins over to a guy who has not only never been a HC anywhere, but he's never even been a coordinator. I'd like to hire a former Tech guy as much as the next guy, but this seems like quite a stretch Jim...
If you are questioning the talent level at GT, then you have to question CPJ's ability as head coach. Who should know better as to what is needed here to win, the head coach.
He's not at Georgia Southern or Navy but he still believes he can win with that kind of talent, wrong. He's been here 5 years, that's plenty of time to learn the landscape (and known before he got here), what it takes to win.
Too many excuses. Sick of excuses. Too many years with too many excuses. We all know what it takes to win. A coach who knows, understands and gets the job done with regard to all aspects of the game. I don't hate Johnson like I did Chan.
I just don't believe he's head coaching material at this level.
Ok guys,
I get it you want a new coach however,
Your entire premise is based on a bias you have against the triple option.
The fact is our defense can't stop a baby from climbing a 10 foot fence. That has nothing to do with the option.
If we were putting up 430 yards on Ga and losing under a pro style coach you would be saying next year we will go out and get a good d coordinator and it will be better.
The fact is our defense is soft, they don't act like they want to hit and they have not learned their roles. This is because CPJ fired CAG in order to start fixing that problem.
Tech will not fire CPJ because they cannot afford to pay someone not to coach first of all. Secondly they will not fire him when we don't even have a AD. That alone ensures at least 2 more seasons for CPJ.
Now next year if we don't see any improvement I am with you but this season was lost long before now and every reason for that being the case is on the defense.
