We win a 3-way tie according to Ken S. at ajc

The Jackets will go to Charlotte with a win over the Blue Devils and one of three scenarios. One is Miami losing to Duke Nov. 24. Should Miami beat the Blue Devils, the second is North Carolina beating Virginia and Maryland to finish in a three-way tie with Miami and Tech and then Virginia finishing in fourth place, which would give Tech a berth in the championship game through the league’s tiebreaker system. The third would require Tech to beat Duke and Miami to self-impose a postseason ban as part of its NCAA sanctions.

My head hurts. Beat Duke and let God sort it out. It will become a lot clearer Saturday night. But we have to beat Duke. Period.

Thanks for the clip, I read the earlier post of ACC rules and this is as clear as mud.

That's all we can do at this point. If we beat Duke, I'll be happy even if we get squeezed out the ACCCG. We got a bigger fish to fry the following week, anyway.

I agree, I just want to go to a bowl and win. Our D isn't ready for the big boys and I was exhausted after yesterday's pinball game. We had our third game watching at our house - the previous two were VT and Miami this year. So I don't know why I was worried going into the fourth quarter and seeing what had been a 21 point lead become an 8 point lead after the first play. Thank Vad that we held the ball for 11:15 of the fourth and scored twice.

Wow, you guys spend a lot of energy fretting over games we might not even have the opportunity to lose. Can't imagine the self-flagellation that will break out if GT lands in the ACCCG.

Heather Dinich reported otherwise on twitter yesterday, but as we all know, she isn't always right.

If I all we have to do is beat Duke and have UNC beat UVA and Maryland, we may very well be there.

According to one comment on the AJC article, and I quote:

"So here is the official rules:for 3way tie (assuming scenario 2)
Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams. (all 3 will be 5-3)
Records of the tied teams within the division. (GT and MIA would be 3-2 in division only play, UNC does not matter, but would win with win over UVA)
Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last. (again 3 way tie)
Overall record for non-divisional teams. (I think this means how good were the teams not in the division that you beat; MIA may have edge because they beat NCST vs our win over MD )
Combined record versus all common non-divisional teams.(GT and MIA 1-0, but edge may go to GT because we won by more points over BC)
Record versus common non-divisional with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional record) and proceeding through the other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within the division.(same as above because only one common opponent not in division)
The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the ACC Championship Game.(Ha, yeah right, NEXT!)
The representative shall be chosen by a draw.(Rock paper, scissors, lizard, Spock)"
