I actually really like Brian Gregory myself.

Bobby Godd never, not once, ever blamed his boys for a loss. It was always on his shoulders, and his shoulders alone. That is greatness. This is not. --YukonWreck

Obviously with the mess that Hewy left us in it may take a few years to really get back where we once were but I think CBG is doing a great job recruiting and I like his attitude. I think he will do good things.

If this is true, it would mean no golden parachute worries

Thanks SEJacket. I'm ambivalent about DRad. Clemson is more of an SEC type attitude and I think he would also fit in there.
As far as the facilities projects go, I wonder who did the heavy lifting of convincing the donors to give. Talking with some administration people, I know the effort to identify and woo donors goes far far beyond DRad. Given the amount of money some of our Alum have and the improving quality of GT, it is a realistic proposition.
New athletic facilities include the Brock indoor field, the McCamish Pavillion and the new indoor tennis facility which has $34M in private donations. {GT is trying to get $5M from the state of Georgia to finish it off.} Those are athletic facilities and we have the other new buildings like the one next to the library. We really have seen a spurt in improvements everywhere on campus that was only rivaled by what the Olympics did. Scheller just gave the IM department $50M. My point is that while DRad may point to these athletic facility accomplishments, he is just a contributor in a bigger picture that will survive just fine without him. Everyone is replaceable.
Rad inherited 2 bad contracts with Hewitt and Gailey. It is ridiculous to pass judgement on Gregory after one season when we all knew it would be a mess. He could have handled the NCAA thing better but the NCAA penalties were ridiculous. He's been able to keep Machelle Joseph and we have won a NCAA championship while's he's been here.
I support DRad. I think our program has been heading in the right direction. But agree the NCAA should have been handled better. And that football and basketball are not wear they need to be this year. And something HAS to give.
Another pot stirring huh? If we are honest with ourselves, 90 % of Tech fans supporter the big contract he got at the time he got it. When you win 8 games and beat Uga, and the next year you win your conference and go to Orange bowl you get those kind of contracts. Everyone loved Johnson then and uga fans were scared of him. I know I was ecstatic about Techs football program them.

What had D Rad done wrong? Because he hired CPJ in the first place? The very guy that 90% of GT has been hailing as the 2nd coming of Dodd for most of the last 5 years? I think you have to wait and see how he handles CPJ's contract renewal/dismissal in the next year or two before you can blame him for anything.
But again, the extension/raise in 2009 was very premature and unnecessary. Nobody was going to come steal him away.
