If as Johnson said after the first practice sans Groh, the defense was "flying around", then let's see that the rest of the year: let them fly around and hit people or get hit. Our defense can't be worse. All in, and all out.

I like kens articles but I don't buy into any of these overly optimistic stories anymore, I need to see it on the field against BC. Charles kelley does sound like a good coach though, hopefully he is.

I think Kelly is probably a great guy. He may be a great coach who has put the pieces together. I think that Walkosky hire was done mostly for ST, but with a bit of insurance for the D. We may have enough coaching to turn this around. I'll be rooting for them at the BYU game and maybe Duke.

But the only way to keep your sanity as a GT fan is to wait for it on the field. That MTSU game will be a nightmare for years and shows how inflated our expectations were.

The MTSU game was one of the hardest things I ever sat through, and I made myself sit there and watch. As everybody on this board knows I am prone to inflated expectations, and look for the positive. I saw nothing positive at the end of the MTSU game, it will be remembered by me as the worst afternoon I've ever spent at the Flats. I don't ever want to go through that again.

I like what Im hearing from practices this week too....but, I heard all spring and summer how good the D looked then, then came the first 3 games where they actually looked good on the field...then came the meltdown. The first 3 games teased us and got our hopes up that the D was going to be good. Now I hear that they are flying around and looking energized and start getting my hopes up again. I think im gonna just wait and see if we can stop BC next week, then Maryland and so on. Hopefully we improve but I wont believe any of it until I see it on the field.
