Recruiting Diary: Georgia Tech-bound OL Shamire Devine (Vol. I) | AJC College Sports Recruiting
Right now, nobody is recruiting me harder than Georgia Tech. As far as other schools trying to recruit me, I don’t know if they are moving slow on me, or they just know Georgia Tech won’t give me up without a fight.
No more so than any prospect who's made a verbal commitment, to any college. I think he's just saying that he'd like to enjoy the process as long as he can - who wouldn't? Bottom line: They're ALL still available, to one degree or another, until the signature is on the paperwork.
Personally, I wish that football had an early signing date, with no contact from schools until an athlete completed the 10th grade. It's gotten ridiculous.
Back to Shamire - as I'm sure you recall, he's the young man who committed, then got his teammate, Jeremi Hall, another terrific OL prospect, to commit to the Jackets. They're going to be an outstanding tandem and are an integral part of the powerful offensive line that we've been assembling for the past several recruiting classes. Both of these guys could be special. Great attitudes/work ethic, fine character.
Nice. Sure could use the beef in the trenches. Vad is going to need a strong LT to pass protect!
They may not be All-Am but sure is an upgrade in POSSIBILITIES>
I heard somewhere - and Lord knows at my age maybe I imagined this - but I believe the early thinking was that they'd both play guard. One on one side, one on the other, the idea being that ain't NOBODY going to be in the backfield to disrupt things right after the snap. Of course, that's just me killing time on a Friday night before me and the old lady head out for dinner.
They haven't signed, haven't practiced at Rose Bowl Field, and we've got the 2012 season to play. But it's fun to speculate - hope springs eternal.
Enjoy your wisdom, Helluva, and (most) others, too- helps pass the time until kickoff on Labor Day night.
THWG, have a great weekend all.
