Paul Johnson Q&A (mostly A) | Georgia Tech
In a long-ago former life I was a journalist -- once got thrown out of an Ohio State practice for asking an impertinent question, which is what I thought I was paid to do, but apparently not to the great Hayes, which nobody did, ever -- and anybody who doesn't enjoy exchanges with Paul Johnson must be a zomby. The guy is funny, after all, they are still punters and kickers is a good line from anybody, much less a head ball coach. (Watch a TV guy "interview" a Butch Davis, for instance, is worse than watching 'em wash the fire truck downtown. On the other hand, it is a good looking truck.)
yeah, the "punters are punters, kickers are kickers" line was a good one. i can see him delivering it, too!
there were some great quotes from coach in the Q&A. he seems highly motivated to get SD into the mix at AB. sounds like SD isn't disappointing, either. yeah, he's still learning but we're not hearing any "so-so" comments about him. CPJ's trying to get him lots of reps and that's exciting news to me.
his discussion of the depth chart and that it's "not in stone" is timely considering the chatter on here by a few. we're weeks away. some are injured. others are gonna shine through at times. let's just keep our fingers crossed everyone stays healthy and productive.
nice mention about joe hamilton, too. for those writing vad off already . . . relax. well, until TW gets seriously hurt. then, you can panic!![]()
This is the best part if you ask me:
Man, I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for some news on Shawn Green. He may be pushing TJ for the starters role by the end of camp. This was less than flattering on TJ:Backup nose tackle Shawn Green has “had a really good camp. I’ve been really pleased with Shawn. He’s done some good things.”
“I think he’s done O.K. His stamina seems to be better. Again, we’ll see once we start playing. You’ve got to play yourself into shape. That’s what camp’s about. You can bust your tail in the summer, and you have to, but it’s a different kind of shape when you start playing.”
"A compass, I learnt when I was surveying, it'll... it'll point you True North from where you're standing, but it's got no advice about the swamps and deserts and chasms that you'll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"

I agree also.
I think this is one of the most encouraging things I've heard this year.
"We're not here to have a Norman Vincent Peale "Power of Positive Thinking" get together or a Georgia Tech Football Revival Meeting."
