I don't think Penn State will be down as long as some people have said. I live in PA and I know the Penn State football program has a great deal of support in the state. I believe Penn State has the largest alumni association of any university in the country. Penn State may have two or three losing seasons due to the loss of football scholarships but they will likely have a winning program again in four or five years given all the support they have and pride in the program by people in Pennsylvania. I'm not pulling for them but I think that is the scenario that will unfold.
Given this is a football message board all the angst is understandable, I suppose. But I am a lot more concerned with the victims of of Sandusky, Paterno and the PSU officials over 20 years -- maybe now going back to the '70s -- than I am with a college football empire. The players and even the coaches will be fine, and wind up playing or coaching at good institutions. But the rape and sodomy victims? Not so much, and those who whine about the penalties ought to get a sense of proportion.
I think this ESPN sportswriter does a good job of summing it up......

I agree with you bout the victims no question they should own Penn State but players not so much.I think kids that go there now will play and probably play well but the main guys are the three admin guys and the coach Jo Pa.Sort of like why are southerners looked upon by some yankees for a war that took place years ago.NCAA however was in a corner and this is what we get.Wonder if other athleteic teams are punished or is it just football team.No dont condone at all the crimes.Been with Courts thirty five years and have seen my share of thugs and perverts and Jerry The Perps and JO PA sentence is certainly fair but not sosure about the rest.Just my opinion several news folks are writing great article on this horrible mess.
I will say Ga Code states or did state that any teacher, law enforcement officer etc that knows or should know of molestation is liable.Jo Pa was more for Jo Pa than for the right thing it seems.

The penalties leved against Penn State will greatly help the recruiting of Pittsburg and Syracuse just as they come into the ACC. Both of these schools will be really tough if they each get some blue chips that would have gone to Penn State.
