The much anticipated first practice report from the ajc

Georgia Tech spring practice notes | Georgia Tech

“Quayshawn and Daniel got quite a bit of time in clearly what was a rookie year for both of them. A lot of positives in the year. By the same token, a lot of things that could cause this year, if they’ll take advantage of it, to be an even more positive year. It starts out there." -Al Groh

“In Jabari, we have a player. He’s got a significant set of skills, so we’re looking forward to giving him concentrated coaching here in the spring that was not available to him because of his position on the depth chart last fall.” -Al Groh

As anyone that has played football before can attest, not much happens the first few practices outside of conditioning drills, position drills, and getting use to the coaches and players. When they strap the pads on, run plays, and smack the crap out of each other is when all the exciting stuff happens. Until then, they all look impressive in shorts and t-shirts!

a-ha! finally here. glad to hear JHD's name mentioned. i have a feeling before it's all said and done he's going to get some significant play time next season. now, let's knock the rust off the QB play and get after it. looking forward to tomorrow's article on the QB competition.

We all know better. I'm glad it's open to all comers and it's not being handed to anyone. Earn it on the field. The thing that most of us forget is that we'll have more options (no pun intended) this year at the qb position. The real question will be how quick a hook will CPJ have if the starter, whomever that may be, struggles.

What I got is that all three TW, Vad and Synjyn were rusty. Not much to go on.

Not to piss in anyone's cheerios but....I think the QB battle this spring is to determine if Vad or SD is number 2. I think TW will remain starter going into the fall. #2 will then get best shot, more reps, to compete with TW for #1. Not to say that both might not leap TW in the fall but that's how I see this playing out.

I think you are right it looks like a fight for number two and I wonder if Vad does not win does he stay at Tech as backup.I would think PJ will go with expierene since his game is dependent on a reading qb with experience. We shall see soon.

If he's the kind of guy who's gonna pout and quit if he loses the battle for starter, I DON'T WANT HIM. Fortunately, by all accounts, he's not that way. Infact, by all accounts, he's the exact opposite.
