This is a discussion on we've got an open date on sept. 8--who do you suggest we play? within the Georgia Tech Football forums, part of the Georgia Tech Sports Message Boards category; If you want to get angry with FSU, GT, or anybody else for that matter, scheduling cupcakes, look no further ...
If you want to get angry with FSU, GT, or anybody else for that matter, scheduling cupcakes, look no further than the BCS system as being the culprit. The current formula for winning a MNC is, like it or not, getting lucky running the table in your conference and scheduling patsies OOC.
When CFB goes to a playoff system that takes all conference champions into the bracket, regardless of record, you will see teams schedule tougher opponents. It will be in their favor to do so because they will be better prepared for the playoff. Right now, you only need to sway the voters with flash, swagger, and SEC credentials before winning a single game sometime in early January.
+1. Another thing to think about: The patsies have to play somebody, unless the above scenario occurs, then the patsies simply wouldn't have football programs anymore. Nobody would be paying them millions of dollars to get hammered.
Also, thanks for the insight, Stoned!
Moving a game up in the season still results in the same number of games to be played, unless some other school has dropped off the schedule, so why do we need to add a game with another school?
But I WOULD like to have that open date later in the season when it would do us more good.
Don't want to hear the "tired" excuse again this season.
In the past GT football has often been JUST GOOD ENOUGH TO BREAK YOUR HEART!
I believe we are on the way to getting where we all want to be - Win Championships, and be more competitive with UGa and Bowl Games.
QB's looking up, WR's coming along(?), Welcome CTR, CMP and new AD, We have some good recruiters with a good class coming, Stamps back to ST's, all 3 phases should be better this year than last. We have team speed to match anyone we play.
What's not to like?

11 out of 12. When will this stop?
Bobby Godd never, not once, ever blamed his boys for a loss. It was always on his shoulders, and his shoulders alone. That is greatness. This is not. --YukonWreck

Certainly this is a board and everyone is entitled to their opinion. It is just that mine is right and yours is wrong. --91Wreck
