This is a discussion on New Commit: Travin Henry within the Georgia Tech Football forums, part of the Georgia Tech Sports Message Boards category; Travin Henry - Yahoo! Sports...
He wasn't highly sought after, but I like his film. I'm not sure why there wasn't more interest. He is a big physical kid who knows how to use his body and "high point" (sorry to use a Jesse Palmerism) the football. I'm not sure if he is a good route runner, but I saw all the receiving skills needed to thrive in our offense. He can get off the ground - that is for sure. In fact, his film reminds me a little of BayBay's. If he can learn to block, he can help us.
I like the idea that we are getting a player from South Georgia, we need to make more inroads there. Looks like he has pretty good size, unsure if he will be Offense or Defense but I do see that when he attended the Ugag camp he was with the LB group and reportedly did pretty well there. But it looks like he could end up on either side of the ball, wherever he can help out most works for me.
Edit: I see from this article that he prefers WR:

More info at where he sounds really physical, good for a WR:

I've read the same stuff you have. Remember, Hill wanted to play for O'Leary and UCF before we got him and Richt/Ugay wanted him last second. This guy reminds me of what Bay Bay was when we got him; flying under the radar but with skills and size we DEF need at this position. He wants to be here so he either A) knows what blocking is or B) knows what it takes to block. A WR that blocks is much more sought after in the NFL than one that doesn't unless he's a Moss or TO.
And yes, I like the fact we're making inroads into South Ga. I think this guy will be a solid player for us, ESP in the red zone
Looks like a big physical receiver -- an advantage Thomas had over Hill imo. Adel GA is out in the middle of nowhere below tifton, so that's probably why not many people made it down there. This is exactly the kind of WR we need in the offense. Good blocking on the perimeter (geez man...can you imagine a 170-200 lb DB getting blocked by this 230 lb WR?!) & can go up and get the ball. Looking forward to him contributing to the team.
