This is a discussion on commit antonio crawford going to make official visit to the U within the Georgia Tech Football forums, part of the Georgia Tech Sports Message Boards category; Was waiting on Schirmster's smart-A comment, guess he saved the majority of it for the AJC?...

    Later, bro.

Disclaimer: My intense hatred of the U probably biases me.

I don't comment very often on the AJC blogs, though I probably should. Nothing smart to add in this situation...although I hope the "Johnson Doctrine" isn't in effect.

SMH...I tell you what, makes you appreciate kids like Freddie Burden who wait till close to the end because they desperately want an offer from GT...and when they get it, they act like they win the lottery. That kid will run through a wall if CPJ ask him to.

On the bright side, if there's one position GT can afford to lose commit, it's CB. We're pretty loaded there and we've got some promising DBs being redshirted to go with our studs Young and Sweeting.

    Consider him gone:

Georgia Tech football recuit risks losing his scholarship offer if he visits Miami this weekend | AJC College Sports Recruiting

“Coach Johnson basically said ‘If you’re looking around, then we’re looking around,’” Crawford said. “He said if I take my visit to Miami, they are bringing in a guy at Georgia Tech this weekend for a visit. If that guy commits, then he takes my spot.”

Is Crawford willing to take the risk? “I’m still visiting the University of Miami this weekend,” he said.

Say this for CPJ, the guy has his principles, and he does not waver from them for anyone.

Anybody know what guy CPJ is talking about bringing for a visit? I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling we will be searching the bottom of the barrel and bring in a Carl Miles type recruit that we will waste a scholarship on and they won't contribute a thing.

I saw on another site there is a second visitor slated to come but I can't read the thread b/c I'm not a member.

I'm thinking the Niederrather kid is a done deal & they'd find space in the highly unlikely event they flip Tomlinson or Bama screws him over...something I wouldn't rule out completely. I also am thinking there will be 1 more Burden--Laskey--Zenon--Deon Hill type commitments...off the radar type guys with good looking film and measurables. Maybe even a second one...this staff likes to keep people secret, tell 'em to be patient, and pop 'em at the end.

Crawford hasn't gone to Miami yet and he might not go. I really am not sold on this kid off the field. In addition to this stunt he has some other nonflattering history. Supposedly he turned over a new leaf, however IMO this incident feeds right into his previous issues. He is an off-the-field risk. Maybe he'd thrive in an environment like GT but who knows.

i think he'll commit to miami this weekend. no way i see him sticking with us. which really doesn't bother me. if he doesn't want to be a jacket, let him go.

Have to agree with that, we do need recruits who really want to be here, GT is hard but worth the effort if you're willing to make it. Does not help us to get a good athlete who may be at risk of not really being committed once they do get here, if he had the talk with CPJ and still says he is going to visit Miami anyway then it sounds like he has made his decision.
