What we do against Wake will our marking point on the second part of our schedule.

I went to the Wake game and caught all but the first 5 minutes. First bball game in 30 years. Love the new stadium for watching a game.

We had a 77% chance to win yesterday. And we had a 75% chance to beat VT. The start of the second half was scary when we didn't score for over 4 minutes. But the kids did all right and stabilized.

We are 1/4 of the way through the ACC schedule - 6 down, 18 to go and firmly in last place. Hopefully we can mount a charge to at least make the ACC tournament (top 9). What we really need is a close game that we win. We ended up 8 of 13 and had made 8 of 10 at one point. Defense, assists, passing and turnovers were pretty good. And the shooting was much better (56% for 2 pointers and 50% for 3 pointers.) We still had a piss poor FT% at 60% which will lose us close ACC games most every time.

Not just the on paper stats that were in our favor, but the intangibles. Team played a tough stretch and didn't win a game, including one we should have won (VT) but they never folded. I could tell they wanted this game bad after the UNC game. We also have a different coach. He is going to develop a toughness in our team we've not seen in quite some time. We've got good history against Wake. I think we thrashed them by 35 a couple of years back. Wake's a young team on the road that had not won yet. One of their best shooters was looking thru coke bottle goggles after getting injured the last game. It was the perfect set up game for a big win.
