• Jeremi Hall Beefs Up Georgia Tech's Recruiting

Georgia Tech added more beef to the offensive line as 325-pound Jeremi Hall committed to the Yellow Jackets Saturday night. Hall is the Jacketsí fifth 2013 commit.

Hallís Tri-Cities teammate, Shamire Devine, committed to Georgia Tech earlier in the week. Between the two they add more than one third of a ton to head coach Paul Johnsonís offensive line.

Virginia Tech, Purdue, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Florida among others have offered the 6í5Ē Hall.

There is a wide discrepancy in how recruiting services view Hallís talents. 247Sports ranks Hall as a 2-star prospect, Scout.com as a 3-star and Rivals.com as a 4-star. You rarely see recruits with three different evaluations from the three aforementioned services.

Playing close to home appeals to Hallís family, especially his mother.

"My mother likes the Georgia Tech academics and sheís looking forward to seeing me play,ď Hall said.

Jeremi Hallís tenth grade highlight package.

Thanks Jim. Do you ever remember a 2 /3 / 4 star rating spread? Of course Rivals must be right

Great to have him coming too! Welcome.

Any idea what his major would be? It's good that his mother likes GT so we don't get Tuitted.

Nuke, I can't remember any 2/3/4 rated player, least not one that we've recruited. Although 247 has him rated with a numerical 79 which is one notch away from being a "3-star".

Not sure what his major will be. When I met him face to fact back in early December and spoke with him he didn't sound very interested in Georgia Tech.. or perhaps he's a great poker player. If he and Devine want to not only attend the same place but also play/start together then their chances of doing that are greater at Tech than the football factories.

      Thanks.

Wow. TOS has him running a 5.7 40 at 335 pounds. That is serious speed for such a big boy. And ranked 6th in the country as OT.

Definitely will help with the big boys we play. You've got to pity some of the small lines (Duke, D2, Wake) that we play. The most rational strategy will be to intentionally beat them up, wear them down and control the clock. Conan, what is best in life? - YouTube

Running the B-Back dive and the midline option just became a lot easier. If these two can earn starting jobs together we literally added 50 pounds/man to our guards compared to what we've had the past few years.

This says it all about the validity, reliability and accuracy of recruiting service evaluations:

There is a wide discrepancy in how recruiting services view Hall’s talents. 247Sports ranks Hall as a 2-star prospect, Scout.com as a 3-star and Rivals.com as a 4-star.
      Then you add this:

You rarely see recruits with three different evaluations from the three aforementioned services.
But this happens all the time.

Cheese.. subjective evaluations by human beings will at times result in diverse results.

Despite the trillions of dollars thrown at the educational system every year I personally have a lot more trust in the individuals who are evaluating high school football players than the ones teaching them.

Rusty Mansell (247Sports, Chad Simmons (Scout), Scott Kennedy (Scout), etc. are very professional, very dedicated and as impressive as anybody I've every met in the educational system.

You are a teacher.. please explain to me why some kids are graded out as nitwits by some teachers yet other teachers read the same thoughts and review the same work and consider those same kids geniuses?? Why can one teacher grade out an essay an F and others will grade the same paper higher, even an A?

The U.S. spends trillions on the education system.. why is it considered such an abject failure? Despite very good pay and tremendous benefits why are there so many nitwits, knuckleheads and morons who are teachers? (Lot of super educators out there, too)

Why in your opinion is the U.S. education system so screwed up despite all the money spent?? Why is it so much more unreliable than recruiting rankings??

He might not be a 4 star but on paper sure has future value.I would rather have a 325 lb 3 star Ol than a 275 3 star OL I believe.

Leave these guys alone!!! If they can run and "pancake" everything they come up against, let them have at it! You GT nerds want everyone to be statistically perfect. It doesn't work that way. It's like meeting a beautiful young woman, then taking her downtown to buy a new pair of bolt-ons, before you ever sleep with her! Give them a break!!! Good grief.

I read somewhere that the 247 site's rating is just a system glitch that is supposed to be fixed soon. I think he's a 4* on their site as well.
