Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson spoke before Yellow Jacket fans at The Edge Center about his 2012 recruiting class in relaxed and confident tones on National Signing Day morning.

"We're really excited about this class," Johnson said. "I think we have a class of seventeen, everybody we thought was coming came in and we got the letters in this morning."

Johnson also shared that he and his staff are waiting on a mystery recruit.

"There's a guy we can't announce," Johnson said. "He wants to have a thing at his school but it is in so we have the seventeen."

Johnson feels that he and his staff addressed specific needs and through their hard work brought in players that he feels will help them win a lot of games at Georgia Tech.

"We've never been in a position where we have 25 scholarships to offer...we try to do it the right way and only offer the number we have". "Depends on how you define attrition." I like the jab at oversigning.

yeah, but he's a complete d*ck for wanting recruits who've given their word to stick to it. imagine that?

I thought -- based only on audio obviously, and seeing no body english, that Johnson was as relaxed and conversational as I have heard him. If he is unhappy or disappointed it certainly did not come through. And it was equally clear that losing players to Alabama and Auburn didn't seem to surprise him. let's start the season.

i saw most his comments and he was very relaxed. seems content the staff has done all they could. i believe they have. hard to compete with the nat'l champ for a four star recruit. and, in the grand scheme, our OL's gonna be fine without will adams. would have loved to have had him--don't get me wrong. but, we've got some pretty good guys we're grooming for the OL.

I still think the average star ranking is the best. Once Scout takes 6 of Gotsis 8 stars away and fixes their database in a week or two, I'll look at the stats, especially average star some more. Scout.com: Football Recruiting

CPJ is a good coach for us. Just hope we do better on ST and D this year - and we start winning at the end of the season.

I still have a question over whether Ryan Rodman can kick off. We know he cant punt the snot out of the ball with great accuracy.

Loved the comment about how international kids know the difference and value academics more than home grown kids.

He made some very interesting statements about "sitting down and making sure our schemes fit the personnel, not the other way around" and "you don't wanna make round pegs fit square holes" making me wonder if we're about to switch to a 4 - 3 defensive front.

You're telling me PJ is gonna override Groh on the Defense? Or, do you think Groh is gone?

Hah, haven't seen you on in a while, Yuk. Where've you been?

Also, I will disagree with that statement.

Sounds like a great plan. let's throw our program into flux for 3-5 years....nevermind the man has the 3rd best winning % in Tech history. Eff the coaches. It's all their fault for everything bad that happens.
