• Vad Lee - 75% Chance He Starts in 2012

Heading into the Georgia Tech 2012 football season the big question will be who is the starting quarterback.

Tevin Washington provided a workman-like effort in 2011 and led the Jackets to a two game win improvement over 2010. Washington will be a senior next year and will utilize his experience to try and hold off redshirt freshman, Vad Lee.

But according to Yellow Jacket Insider Matt Winklejohn, there is a 75% chance that Vad Lee will start next season.

"While Tevin has warrior in him, he clearly is not the answer in the passing game, Winklejohn said in an interview with GTSportsTalk's Jim Hart. "Vad Lee is going to play next year one way or the other. Whether he is the starter or not, Vad Lee is going to play."

Subscribe to GTSportsTalk Gold and hear the full 12-minute Winklejohn Interview as he talks more about about the quarterback situation, the positives heading into 2011, why Paul Johnson became conservative in the fourth quarter against Utah, how the defensive line shapes up next year, the b-back situation and more Georgia Tech football talk in this 12-minute interview.

Ha. ..it happens sometimes. I try not to get too excited about players before they step on the field. I'm finding it real hard not to with Vad. Things the coaches said pre season and during plus Wink's prediction are getting me stoked that we might have a special player in hand. And at the QB position too! We have not seen anything approaching excellent QB play since Goose was on the flats.

With Vad Lee ready to take the QB position, and Justin Thomas coming in to follow him up, what WAS considered a weakness looks pretty good. Those two, with TW as backup and mentor for his senior season. Will TW come back? Didn't he graduate in December?

Will Justin agree to being redshirted, or will he play? He is described as a Pat White type of QB, I'll take one of those any day.

Now all we gotta do is find someone to CATCH the dang ball. I still wonder how Days would do at WR, I can only imagine him with the ball, with room to run. Days can't be any worse than Hill, and Days deserves to play somewhere, imho.

Oh yeah.. Tevin will be back. He's a fighter and won't succumb without a battle. He's made significant strides every year he's been in the program so if he makes another leap in his abilities he may be more formidable than most think.

Days could be a lot worse than Hill and at least 2 steps slower. If he's not going to be QB, he'd be better off at Safety...small chance but that is his best shot at making it to the next level. But I wouldn't mind him at BB.

I agree with Helluva - Days is fast, but he's not Hill fast. That's not a put down because very few people in CFB were Hill fast.
      He's quick as hell though.

If Vad's #1 and Tevin's #2, I don't know what would be wrong with going the Sims route; he's a fantastic runner.

Days needs to be in somewhere. He's too good an athlete not to be. Who replaces Roddy at A back next year?
