This is a discussion on Really looking forward to Falcons game today, but - within the Atlanta Falcons forums, part of the Atlanta Pro Sports Message Boards category; not at all sure the Falcons D can do the job unless they step up like they did against Denver. ...
not at all sure the Falcons D can do the job unless they step up like they did against Denver.
I feel okay with the Offense, but any D of the teams left is as strong, or stronger, than we are.
Someone needs to remind players that this might be as close to going to Super Bowl as they may ever get in their entire career.
This game, and next if there is one IS THE TIME for any Falcons player to play your game of a lifetime.
If you play for 60 minutes, leave everything you have on the field - that is all anyone can ask of you.
GO Falcons !!!

In the past GT football has often been JUST GOOD ENOUGH TO BREAK YOUR HEART!
I believe we are on the way to getting where we all want to be - Win Championships, and be more competitive with UGa and Bowl Games.
QB's looking up, WR's coming along(?), Welcome CTR, CMP and new AD, We have some good recruiters with a good class coming, Stamps back to ST's, all 3 phases should be better this year than last. We have team speed to match anyone we play.
What's not to like?
Falcons D strikes again, to lose another comfortable lead, again (if ANY lead is comfortable against the Atlanta Defense) to lost the biggest home ballgame in Atlanta history.
So much for Atlanta home win advantage, so much for monkey of cannot win the big one off the Falcons.
I am proud of what they did, just hate to see them consistently not able to put other teams away.
Maybe a lesson for GT football in the future.
Rise up, for what?

bottom line--you've GOT to tackle people to win football games. decoud's a flat-out joke. way too many missed tackles all the way around. top it off with untimely penalties and you've gotta defensive meltdown on your hands that results in just what we saw today. how the hell do they leave the 49ers #1 receiving threat, vernon davis, wide-ass open so many times??? sure, davis is a great player. but, man, it was as if he was friggin' unmolested time after time today. coming off the LOS easy as pie. just made it too easy.
the better team won today. 49ers deserve to go to the big dance.
The better team won for sure, Falcons were out executed, outplayed, outcoached. At times it looked like SF was showing stuff Falcons had never seen.
Where have we heard before that poor tackling will kill you. Might be here on the GT forum. Maybe it should be a lesson to GT players.
You win championships with a Defense, which the Falcons seemed to not have a clue what s D id supposed to do except to buy time while O was off field.
This team had their chances to win that game. At times, all three, O, D and special teams failed to do so.
Falcons were CLEARLY not ready for the big dance.

dimitroff, blank, and smith need to be camped outside tony g's door today begging him not to retire. offer him whatever the hell he wants but do something to keep him from hanging up the cleats!
find a stud RB to compliment the passing game. turner's way too slow. 'quiz gives a nice change of pace but we need a legit back with size and speed to tote the rock.
need to find a consistent pass rush. abraham isn't enough. not to mention he's getting old--more prone to injury. get some hitters in the secondary who can friggin lay the wood. way too much finesse in the secondary. tired of that crap. hit someone for god's sake! do these guys even have arms???
is it april 1st and no one told me?
decoud in the pro bowl? seriously? actually, this could work to his advantage considering the lack of hitting in hawaii anyway.
